![]() Immersive Force Chapter 2 The Tethering Soul![]() When we last left our dastardly bastard, he was engaging with a conversation with a being he had never met before. It was a being that had appeared after he had engaged Saiyans, took lives and found a home in a cavern to the southwest on a certain continent. We now continue in the next chapter of the Immersive arc, The Tethering Soul . His question was stark yet housed with all the confusion that the Hell Spawn felt at that very moment. It wasn’t just the appearance of this floating specter above him, oh no. It was the culmination of several idea’s that plagued his mind… even one as sophisticated as his. To all those who knew Dabura; he was a being that had a potential for vast power… with an intellect that exceeded even those potentialities . So for one such as him, to be stumped… it must have been a mighty trigger for that to happen. He looked on as DE-fragmented energy cascaded off the body of this being. His mouth hung open for but a moment as the being finally came into clear view. A ghastly cackle along with cackling bones could be heard as a being foreign to him spoke. “Such rudeness. It is not befitting for a King to behave so. Especially to his attendant, no?” The voice didn’t ring a bell. It raised a lot of questions however. It spoke of rudeness that Dabura showed to him… that he would soon apologize for but given the circumstance he think it would be expected of one. He then mentioned a king… and the way he poised this question was as if Dabura himself was a King. This was far from the case as Dabura’s current footing disposed of that fact alone… so what could this being be mentioning? It finalized its statement with proclaiming itself to be the Hell Spawn’s very own attendant. To explain, In the Realm of Demons… the King’s themselves have attendants. Now these normally are demon’s but they can range from any oddity among the litter. Demons, animals, spirits, banished beings and even ancient artifacts themselves such as grimoire’s. Dabura had been before the generals of the 7 lands in Hell and had noticed each of them had attendants. Yes, they were not kings… but one of them eventually would take the throne from the current king and that royalty thought it would be good practice and planning to put the idea of kingship in his head. This was a strategy devised by the King with underlining effects. It served as to truly prepare one to take his throne… but knowing a Demon they would never give up their seat of power right? You are correct in that thinking. Step two of this simple tactic was to give the Generals a sense of importance… making them think they were worth something. Please the people and they will be loyal to you; even for an eternity. Dabura thought about all the information stored in his head as the appearance of this ghoul noted back to what an attendant truly was. This even brought up further questions as previously stated and so the visitor inside Dabura’s new home continued; floating while he did this as well. “My name is Dauturu, I have come from a future year to lead you into a state or prosperity. You have no idea how far I have traveled back and how many different versions of you I have come across… Time is such a devious contraption.” The explanation that this specter gave was time travel. He spoke of alternate universes that he has seen alongside different Dabura’s that he has met and battled. Each did not believe him… but somehow the Dabura, currently standing before him, did not feel threatened. He felt a serenity in the presence of this one called Dauturu. He felt like this being would not steer him wrong and that he somehow belonged with this individual side by side. It was a strange thing indeed… this concept of time. It seemed that no matter how far two individuals get, that time would surely guide those beings back together. It played on the front lawn of destiny but was guided by fortune. Dabura continued to listen to this one called Dauturu as he explained why he was sent back. “It was by non other than you your highness. You felt a sense of , boredom I should say with your current life. You sent an anomaly back into time previously before me, to have another rise up in power in your stead. This being was the former Attendant… who is now the king of the Demon Realm you are from. Your kingship-p then sent me back as a beacon… so that I may not only steer you in the right direction; but for my enjoyment as well so that I may venture through your many exploitation. It was a reward for my loyalty to you for 100,000 years of service and never faltering no matter how many have come for your title. The regime of Dabura, King of the Demon realm spanned to be a royalty that has never died out and lasted for only one million years.” The Specter dropped down, showing off that he was nothing but bones. He wore a red bandana around it’s forehead and carried a specialized shield and matching cutlass. Dabura smirked at the presence of this one called Dauturu. He was like himself, full of pride but with a pinch of respect for his fellowship. It was refreshing to see one such as himself. Everything other being that dabbled upon his territory of power were all hoodlums who he shared nothing alike. Maybe the words of this specter were true? Only time would tell as Dabura was granted a bit of clarity. It was this tethering Soul; that menaced the fabrics of time. Dabura looked back at his future attendant and poised a question. “Are things that boring Dauturu?” 1003 |

![]() Immersive Force Chapter 2 The Tethering Soul![]() “Burn my dread…” Dauturu told the Hell Spawn. A confused look came over the face of Dabura for a moment as Dauturu explained shortly after. “Those were the last words you told me before I left. At the time, I hadn’t the faintest clue as to what you meant but; over my years of waiting here on Planet Vegeta, I have learned exactly what you meant.” Dabura waited as the specter walked on the outside and pointed when Dabura followed. The direction he pointed was the main outpost on Planet Vegeta, the main base of the Saiyan race, where the King Resided. “Burning your dread has to do with eradicating the boredom in your life. I was sent to you to be a guide not only to help you along the path to Kingship… but to make things more interesting. As a King, dread is something that’s inescapable yet I will do everything in my power your majesty.” Dabura looked on. He folded his arms as his stare went from his own cavern to that of the lands of the planet and eventually ended on the castle of Planet Vegeta. “What do you propose Dauturu…” Dauturu leaned back while he sat down his enormous shield and cackled just a little. “It is simple your highness. We must first start by regaining some power. You… in the form you are in need to not only gain power but need to gain precedence over these Saiyans. How about we interject your presence in the lives of a few of the Saiyans. Not so they can know your name… oh name. So that they may curse their own existence and fall. I assume you are familiar with what happens when a mortal falls right?”
Back to the duo, Dabura conversed further with his attendant from future times as more explanations were to be handed out. “We need not just pick any individual sire; but the right individual.” Dabura fired back a question at Dauturu asking how will we know the right individual and Dauturu nodded in approval. “That’s like the King I know. Like you assume, it would be a daunting task to go from individual to individual on this planet searching for the ripe among the mortal scum… but luckily there is such a device that we can acquire to help us in this dubious endeavor.” “This is…?” “An Immoral Compass. It is rumored that if one can enter a damnable shrine upon any realm at a particular spot; that one in touch with their demonic nature can step into the Negative Flow itself.” “I thought you referred to the Negativ Flow as power.” “You are right my king. It is power… but the Negative Flow can be so much more than energy alone. It is mentioned in great runes across the realms that ‘If an individual is able to step into The Negative Flow, a reality of pure malice that they can meet one who can show them the way. This being is known as the Tethering Soul.” Such explanations continued. Immoral compass and Tethering Soul were just some of the pieces of information explained to Dabura. He understood them well upon first hearing of these things. He was one of the younger Demons but his knowledge did not attribute his gauge of strength; it was one of his strong suits. Knowing what he had to do, the only question left was as to how. The conversation between Dauturu and Dabura had ended as Dauturu had dismissed himself from his King’s presence. “How will I know where this damnable shrine is at? And when I do… how do I enter this Negative Flow and meet this Tethering Soul?” Dauturu bowed before his king before dismissing himself. “Burn thy dread… my king…”and with that Dauturu had vanished. He had left Dabura to his own devices to find a path. He was sent to this time not to do everything… but to give Dabura a shove in the right direction. As long as this feat could be accomplished… then that’s all there was to it. As his attendant vanished, Dabura broke out in a smile as he remembered something before his attendant had come. He had found out that the very energy that supported the Negative Flow, Kilis, was actually not just something to make him stronger physically but it also unearthed a plethora of powers. He was able to breathe fire now. It seemed like a suitable thing for all Demons to have but this was not the case. Demon’s possessed energy just like the rest of the beings of the universes; this was just another form of energy he had gained usage of. He needed time to perfect this energy, he felt that this ability to breath fire could be utilized in more ways than just releasing it. “There is some kind of a connection here…” Dabura said to himself. “The Kilis, another form of the Kilis, new powers and ancient demonic artifacts… It seemed I have stumbled upon something much grander than I ever dreamed of. The endless possibilities that this mortal realm has…” Dabura, a future king… was excited. 2006 |

![]() Immersive Force Chapter 2 The Tethering Soul![]() And so our Hell Spawn, spent the next few days in deep contemplation. He needed to figure things even with his attendant there. Dauturu was sent to aid; not think for him plus Dabura would not have it any other way. This ordeal was for him to figure out. This situation would help his metamorphosis from an ordinary Demon to one of royalty. And so he pondered. There were many times the demon would find himself walking about his home, the caverns in the southwestern part of Planet Vegeta. There were times where he would find himself venturing outside, when the weather of the plant permitted so. There we simply times where Dabura went nowhere and simply sat in a trance. This state would leave Dabura with the ability to go into a meditative state. Unlike mortals, a Demons meditation was an outer body experience. It led them to many revelations that they could decipher in a more ‘spiritual’ form than that of a mortal. With this power at his fingertips, the problem of locating the Tethering Soul would become fodder or his intellect. While Dabura thought to himself and ventured off from his physical form, leaving his ‘shell’ of a body behind, Dauturu, his attendant looked on. He was watching his King go through several states of contemplation… and each one pleased him. “He’s slowly beginning to understand. Dabura… you truly are a mark of excellence… even in your youth…” A cackle left the bone skull of the attendant. He faded into nothingness as he left the cavern of his master; to where nobody knew but him. Meanwhile, Dabura’s spirit had gone over the facts he had earned since he met with Dauturu. He had to go voer each intricate fact in order to find an absolute resolution to how to finding this tethering soul. It didn’t start there though.. he needed to find an altar where it could be easily certified that one even existed on Planet Vegeta. He was assured by Dauturu but there was no way to know was there? “A compass, Kilis, Thethering Soul, emotional distress, and unlimited power…” The words escaped his mouth. He was floating around his sleeping quarters, in his spiritual form as he went over those main facts. Images of each one entered his spirit as he observed each all from another aspect. The compass, Dabura knew nothing about. He had never heard about it and never thought about such a device until Dauturu brought it to his attention. He could not start there, he lacked insufficient thoughts about it so he ruled it out. Kilis, the emotional energy source manifested into power. Demon’s thrived off this energy and Dabura thought of it in a few ways only until now. It was coupled with the fact of emotional distress.. which is what a Demon manipulated within a Mortals body. Making a mortal reach their Emotional Quota, is what drove out the Kilis to begin with. Dabura circled around as he remembered the Saiyan who he had a scuffle with when he first arrived. It was a possibility… but he resounded to not spending more than a minute per fact. This ‘stipulation’ he gave himself would ease his judgment call by looking at things theatrically. The last two facts were the Tethering Soul itself and unlimited power. Each of these things was similar to the Immoral Compass. He had no prior knowledge that these things existed. He only half knew of the unlimited power but only in a different light. He did not knew it gained him such radical powers that could unearth additional abilities. He thought it only raised his dominance in battle but it actually added a whole new dimension. The Soul he did not know about nor did he too much care for. He could not wrap his mind around anything with it for one fact; He was a demon. Demon’s did not believe in the soul. They thought it to be just some sort of term created by Mortals to balance out the evil and good in their hearts and lives In short Dabura thought it was how Mortals lied to themselves. He had never seen a soul nor even knew they existed so of course he would not even consider that at his starting point. After all his thinking, his spirit was brought back to his body. He opened his eyes and grunted as he rose from his seat. He tested out his body to make sure everything was back working like it should and everything checked out. He looked to the side when he felt the essence of Dauturu begin to appear. “I have found my answer Dauturu…” “My lord?” “When broken down… information can be dissected. In the state of trance, a Hell Spawn is able to subjectively look at everything… from his own mind and from the minds of those he has taken hostage in devouring their Kilis. It was here that I used the mind of one Saiyan I have taken in. This was a being I met shortly before I met you. I had resigned this Saiyan to emotional distress and it unearthed something radical to be born… a separate type of Kilis along with the basic one. Upon combining the Kilis I had created, I was given a new depth of power and this is what I can use. This Saiyan known as Sprout also agreed with this thought.” “How will you exactly start?” “It is simple. I will use the knowledge of the minds of the local Saiyans. They would be able to know the landscape better than any. All I need to do is to push them to the point of Falling, then there mind will be mine’s eternally. By doing this I will pick the brains of them all and be able to find if there are any ‘legends’ of any shrines that could be haunted. In this way I will gain power and at the same time be able to find this shrine and maybe locate this Tethering soul.” The plan was set, now the only thing now was to carry it out. Dabura stepped from beyond his jagged dwellings and looked to the north. He used his innate ability to manipulate his seventh sense, the ability to gauge where energy was used and measure the density of it. His yellow eyes scanned the northern sector as he came across a plethora of readings. There were beings with moderate readings, among other signatures that were significantly lower. Dabura darted forward and began to travel. He wanted this ‘mystery’ he stumbled upon to be over. The quickest way to do that was to gather Kilis and subsequently… it would gain him power all the while. It surely was a win-win situation for the Hell Spawn. As his legs raced his body towards his destination to the north, Dabura realized something. This was the first time he was using his body since he absorbed the Kilis and had that brief battle with the Saiyan captain Sprout. His movement was quicker… much quicker than he ever thought it could be. As his white boots impacted with the ground, they created soft vibrations in its wake. Animals such as birds and small fauna would flee with the senses only an animal would have. They knew something was coming… a predator that moved swift. His goal was not of the flesh. Unlike most land mammals, Dabura’s hunt was of the mind and the heart. He wanted to corrupt the minds of these Saiyans and sabotage their hearts with such a feeling that would allow him joy. His movements had garnered him close to his destination. Unlike his first debut on the Planet, he was not sensed. He had figured it out for some time now… that if one were to move without flight, that they would conserve energy and give any unsuspecting individual the element of surprise. He did not learn this from sheer trial and error… but the tangle with the Wolves had caused Dabura to adapt to his environment and adopt a new technique. It was not an actual technique… but more of a method of doings things. He found it quite invigorating to say the least. “There they are…” Dabura stated as he had neared his objective. He slowed his pace as he came to a point that was similar to his home, a mountain range. The Demon looked around as he found the rising energies of the Saiyans he had targeted. He felt 3 different pulses, all at different power ranges, separate by just a few clicks. This was a good turn of events. Their powers being identical would have made things worse as he would have had to survey longer before striki9ng. He knew since they were Saiyans and their power was different… there had to be some sort of chain of command. Saiyans were beings hat valued strength before all else. Whoever was strongest… simply was superior, that is all. He found a recluse position that gained him seclusion from their presence. Even though his power was not in use, a being could still feel a certain ‘stench’ in the air or that they were being watched. It was Bloodlust and instincts. Peering over the small cliff, he could see them! The 3 of them had long hair, slim bodies that boasted a type of material similar to his own clothing, Dabura figured it was Standard issue, their flex-weave clothing that is. One had on blue, another red, and the final had on a darker color in the shade of grey nearing black. Dabura further surveyed. He needed something to go off on. Some sort of trigger to take into his hand to warp the minds of the three women. He needed emotion to be shown in the sliver of chance. They were going through some sort of Routine. It looked as if they had done it before as all three moved swiftly from each exercise to the next. Pushups of all grade that seemed to get more difficult the greater number of them they did. The plain pushup was done 50 times which was followed by the diamondback pushup and moving forward to the single handed and so forth. This was just a warm up as the trio popped to their feet and stretched as they now tested out their limbs and sent a few punches and kicks through the air. It was silent, save for body movement and grunts then… that is when Dabura’s eyes bulged. He had found his chance! A grin came over his face as a set of sparring matches came out. The Red and a blue, dressed Saiyan woman had battled. The Blue came out on top as the grey and blue battled next. The blue was defeated by the grey who was then able to defeat the red dressed Saiyan. As the scene continued to play out, Dabura could feel an emotion trigger. It was two separate feelings, one from the one dressed in red and another different emotion for the one dressed in blue. “Jealousy and Regret.” He whispered as if talking to someone. In his surveillance he lost all sense of himself as was talking to boast his own ego, he began to grow excited as he continued to watch. Peering into the mind of the two Saiyans he heard their minds crying out. “Dammit. Just how strong is she? How much more will I have to do just to keep up with her!” “I really need to focus more on training. I just can’t seem to cut it. If only I was able to concentrate more!” The two Saiyans were envious and Jealous of the one in the black. Stretching out two hands, Dabura began to meld words across distance into the open minds of the two Saiyans. “She thinks she’s better than you! The only reason she came along was to make sure you could not beat her and to hold you back!” “She talks about you all the time. She says she doesn’t even know why you bother… your just wasting your time.” A smile graced the face of the Demon as he lowered his arms and the two minds of the girls were his. He could feel their emotional distress rising. They were close. His thoughts had entered their heads and made them question themselves. All 3 of the Saiyans were friends… but when it came to power… one would always seem like they were better. Dabura sought to exploit this and make the two girls gang up on the superior one. Two against 1 in a sneak attack would surely do her in and the battle ensued. From his front row seat, Dabura watched as the two girls caved to the true power of the one they trained with. The girl in black exploded and in a fit of not holding back… she ended her two bests friends. This Saiyans name turned out to be Enola. This turn of events surprised Dabura greatly. To think that the two women minds he infiltrated were still not enough for the one they attacked… made him even more thrilled. He had seen the entirety of the battle and upon the departure of the one called Enola, he noticed some weird actions in her body movement. She was ‘beside’ herself in thoughts. She didn’t know how this all had happened. It was their weekly training exercise, a time for the 3 to come together and not only make each other stronger but to spend time with one another. This is when he decided to let his presence be felt. He stepped onto the boulder he stood behind and folded his arms. His energy level had shot up in terms of magnitude which alerted the female Warrior. She made contact with the look in her eyes as Dabura could hear her thoughts. In this moment he sent a powerful set of words in her head. “It’s sickening when one cannot control their own power. It makes my job of making you kill your own friends… even easier.” A laugh ensued as the look in Enola eyes changed from that of distraught to a gaze of rage. She roared as her power swelled on the inside, only to be released in a howling yell that caused the nearby gravel to rise up around her. Dabura moved his right hand and extended his index finger and motioned for her to ‘come on’. Dabura had simply took off back towards his cavern. Enola had gave pursuit as her aura was now visible, to those who had the power of it’s manipulation. As they ran through the terrain, Dabura noticed that this girl began to catch up to him. He had not thought of the fact that this girl ‘could’ be stronger or even excel at one attribute that he could not match; and with that Enola had delivered a thunderous kick with her superior speed. She then darted around towards Dabura’s right side and unleashed a fury of blows. Dabura felt the force of the blows but something else was delivered with them, the memory of her loss. As the punches and kicks continually came, Dabura was more and more satisfied with what he had been able to do. He had truly stumbled upon the right group as this girl was one step short of falling. Enola’s combination had ended, as it sent Dabura skidding across the terrain. He leaned back from the stance of being punched in the face and smiled at the girl. She was faster… but her hits didn’t worry the Demon at all. “This is what your friends died too? Looks like I was doing the empire a favor…” That little sentence had done it. It was all the Saiyan known as Enola needed to fall. Dabura could see it, just like he did with Sprout. Enola was no different. She might have had an awesome power but in the end… her emotional Distress was nothing but child’s play to the Hell Spawn. In a clash of blows, Dabura had impaled the Saiyan with his right hand. He lifted up the Saiyan, while he actually held his heart in her hand. He reached back and took the still beating organ as the woman fell over to the side. Blood dripped on the ground from his hand as the energy surrounding the girl had faded and the process had begun. The heart was the primary tool for this ritual. With it, a Demon could absorb all the emotion recorded in the mind in one moment, transforming the severed heart into a mass of Kilis. The energy had merged and Dabura held the energy source in his hand. It was something he could not hold, so it floated a few inches above his hand as he opened his mouth and began the process of inhaling the energy. His large canines had been shown once again. The dark red and black energy swirled towards his mouth as it was fully engulfed. Upon taking in the massive energy, his muscles bulged and his aura flared brightly. It brought a shocking pulse of energy all over his body that flashed along with his aura then it ended. As he stood there, he noticed one last bolt of Ki Surrounded his body as the memories of not just Enola, but her two friends Meri, and Teraina were his to command. This was no time for him to slouch though. The sudden rise in Ki could draw the attention of others to his location. It could be pretty bad for the Hell Spawn if Saiyan troops arrived to see the bodies of 3 Saiyans and one intruder among the planet. They were after all at war with the Changeling race… and Dabura’s appearance wasn’t one that made him look exactly friendly. In a blur the Demon’s body had vanished. His movement of high speed had ended him at his ‘doorstep’, where he saw Dauturu who welcomed him back. “I take it the hunt went well?” “Better than just well Dauturu. At Dawn… we can go to the shrine…” Dabura had gained the knowledge of the location of the shrine. He figured it had to be where this Tethered Soul was at. It was in the memories of all 3 women. They all had experienced a telling of a tale of a withering Spirit that was located in the northeast sector of Planet Vegeta. But for now… Dabura needed to rest. 5105 Dauturu

============ Grader's Notes: VERY NICE! so devious in action yet very informative. I enjoy reading the development of Dabura in the story line you have created for him. The story was well written and the plot speaks to me! Side Note: Not sure what timeline your story takes place but as of the end of the first mini arc, the war between Changelings and Saiyan is currently over. just In case you were unaware. Added a small bonus because I enjoyed the transition from the first story to the second and both were equally entertaining.
