Chapter One: Actualization -1- Gunshots roared through the night, as air raid sirens reminded the soldiers that no where was safe. Out here, out in the heat of battle your life was on the line every second of every day. Mortars and bombshells created craters in which the cowards went to hide, but the smarter soldiers were the ones following them in. There was a near impossible chance that an artillery strike would hit in the same place more than once, and with a battlefield littered with craters, there were plenty of locations to take refuge. “If you don’t want to die, I suggest you keep your head down.” The blonde man shouted at a new recruit peeking his head over the edge of the crater. His piercing blue eyes saw right through the scared combat virgin trembling in his boots. “This is no place for a coward.” Leon’s tone was ice cold, merciless to his subordinates. There was no room in the commander’s heart for the coddling of the weak; either they prospered or they were eliminated. Strictly business. “I’m sorry Commander Blue I just-“ “Did I ask for you opinion corporal? Now you either live or die out here, and I’m not about to die on behalf of a waste of space like yourself. Believe me, if it was me or you, you’d better count yourself as good as dead.” The lower ranking soldier swallowed the knot that was restricting his air way, taking a deep breath in after hearing the awful, but true statement of his squad leader. Command under the ruthless behavior of General Leon Reinhild was one of complete, and utter misery. The strict and brutal commanding officer tolerated nothing less than perfection from his men, to the point that any form of laziness or insubordination would typically result in physical retribution, but in most cases execution. His troops often referred to their commanding officer as General Blue, a nickname given to him because of the bright intensity of his eyes, but mostly because of the color of the ice within his heart. As the general sat, sweating and covered in dirt, he watched as the soldier he just scolded leaned towards the edge of the crater once again. If he wants to die so soon, I won’t deprive him of that wish. There were two other soldiers in the makeshift foxhole with the commander, both of which couldn’t believe their eyes when they watched their c.o, move swiftly to action. With the speed and swiftness of a soldier well versed in combat, the soldier dropped his rifle and pushed himself from the wall of the crater. It happened in a blur, but in that slow second, the new recruit was pushed from the foxhole and into the open, however commander Blue was not yet done with his chastisement of the insolent troop. As whizzing bullets filled the air like a hive of angry bees, Leon rose from the impact zone, gathering tiny particle of kinetic energy to the center of his gloved right hand. The tiny beams of reflective light were the same blue as his eyes, a color that gleamed in the hazy warzone like the moon on a clear summer’s night. In an instant a sphere of glowing azure energy had been created, causing dirt and small pieces of rock to swirl around the mass of kinetic energy. The commander pointed the potential energy weapon towards the stumbling corporal only ten yards ahead, the same soldier who had the audacity to ignore Leon’s priceless advice and direct order to remain in the foxhole. “May your cowardly soul wander this earth for eternity.” As the blast erupted from his palm, Leon could see the last ounce of hope fading from the man’s eyes. The pathetic excuse for a soldier realized his potential as wasted space, and knew there would be no surviving this. The sizzle of searing flesh, for the brief moment that it occurred, blotted out the noise of the battlefield for a moment. Both soldiers remaining in the foxhole with the general stared with gaping mouths and shock-filled hearts as the center chest cavity of their friend and ally was reduced to nothing but ash. With a cold and remorseless smile, the blonde haired, blue-eyed commander sunk back into the rubble of the crater and made his way back to the rife he had left behind. There wasn’t a single word spoken by the other members of the squad, only stares of fear that they too might suffer the same fate as their friend. “He was lucky to have lasted that long.” Blue said as he adjusted the shoulder strap of his weapon. The standard military rifle hung at his right hip, the perfect position for retaliation in the time of combat. Again, both of the other members of Leon’s squad remained quiet, only acknowledging his statement with the meaningless nodding of their heads. “Listen to me gentlemen.” His tone had shifted and with it, the cold expression in his eyes had softened, a moment the soldiers had never witnessed since their encounter with the commander at basic. “This world will take no prisoners. Take note of how to survive, and do it. Do not mourn for those who can’t save themselves. You determine your own survival in this place. Don’t screw it up.” Without warning the commander leapt from his entrenchment and into the heat of battle, leaving the stunned sergeant’s behind without a moment’s hesitation. Some Years Later The hum of electrical wires toned out the reverberating silence that echoed through the darkness of the room. In the absence of light there was darkness, and in that darkness evil of all kinds was birthed. Feeding on the light of humanity, the hope in their hearts that life was something to be cherished this force was created. “He was almost beyond my reach.” The voice in the darkness spoke. It was cold and emotionless, a tone emitted by a being incapable of feeling anything but malice. There was no response to the statement through verbal affirmation, but somewhere in the void of shadow a small panel of lights flickered in unison. The multicolor array of the light spectrum emitted a series of beeps and clicks as well, communicating with the shade of a being from within void. “Indeed, it seems that the subject has retained a good portion of his memories while unconscious. This will prove beneficial when he awakens.” Again the voice spoke, only this time his calloused tone was followed by the sequential pressing of what sounded like buttons. Whirring to life like a mechanized monster, blinding white lights illuminated the darkness of the space bathing its rays of luminous glory throughout the area. Shapes could finally be seen and objects depicted in their true form, and finally the being that had been communicating with the computer could be identified through the projection of the light particles. A stark white lab coat covered his torso, half buttoned and revealing a black vest beneath. Embroidered on the work uniform was a red ribbon symbol depicting only two letters “R.R.” The scientist bore no emotion to his face, only the calloused glazed eyes that had seen too much in their lifetime. With the precision of an experienced doctor, the scientist approached the lifeless body sprawled out on the operating table. Bleach blonde hair stained with a crimson hue was matted down on the forehead of the test subject. The doctor examined the freshly sewn stiches across the abdomen of the resting body, making sure that the wound would heal as planned, and without complication. With every examination of the cadaver, the scientist would nod, as if in agreement with himself. “Computer: Delete all Data pertaining to subject: “Blue” and upload his primary Mission Objectives.” As the doctor spoke he produced a syringe from his sleeve and moved towards the closest arm of the lifeless body. The flashing lights from before occurred overhead this time as the array of machinery descended from the ceiling and apparatus slowed to a stop over the body. Inserting the needle through the skin, the scientist injected the substance within the tube into the victim’s body, a grin now forming on his face. As the scientist pulled away from the corpse the strange apparatus hanging above the full length of the specimen descended from its perch. A strange metal mold the exact shape and size of the subject fit over his bare flesh, encasing the blonde in a cocoon of steel. “Initiate actualization.” The doctor spoke again, as he moved back to the corner of the room where he entered into a small room. From his current position the doctor watched with eager anticipation through a viewing window as the supercomputer executed the commands of its master. Lights began to flash irradically as the overall brightness of the room dimmed. Power was needed for this process, and by diverging all nonessential functions of the laboratory to this specific task, actualization could be attained in a matter of minutes. With his final preparations complete the bony fingers of the mad doctor fumbled for yet another device in his pocket, flipping the machine open and jamming his finger tips into the keypad. “This is Dr. Johan Klemens. Test subject “10” has completed all primary testing phases and is being actualized now. Notify Gero of his success once again.” And with another press of the keypad Johan ceased his communication. My whole life had lead to this moment, and now it has finally arrived.

Chapter One: Actualization -2- Leon blinked furiously as the blinding luminous rays from the lights above burned at his pupils. With steady ease he fluttered his eyelids, adjusting ever so slowly to the intensity of light in the room. Waking up was never a difficult thing for the warrior, however in his present condition it felt as If he had been asleep for longer than eight hours. As his body slowly adjusted to the brightness of the room, the muscular soldier felt the chill of metal beneath him as his eyes now quickly scanned his surroundings. It took only a second for the panic to set in, neigh the fear of the last moments he could remember springing to the forefront of his conscious state. “Where am I!?” He questioned as he sat upright, his eyes frantically observing the bleak steel room that encased him. The walls were smooth and silver, flawless in design and perfect for containing threats of an unknown power. A thin layer of rectangular glass was centered in the wall to his right, an observation window for whoever was detaining him inside this prison cell. As Leon’s mind raced to remember how he arrived in this strange location, a shooting pain shot down his brain stem and into his spine. The pain was all but numbing, buckling the naked warrior over the side of the steel bed he had been resting on, and straight down to the hard chrome floor. Landing on his side, Leon rolled over on his shoulder his hands gripping the thin side-burns that rest on his temple. Images continued to flash repeatedly beneath his eye lids, pictures of people and things that he could vaguely recall, almost as if his memories were fighting to surface. The pain erupted again, only this time it forced to the surface the image of a small black haired mercenary garbed in a pink ghi. The piercing eyes of the devil were unmistakable, and Leon managed to utter a single name through his cries of agony. “Tao!” He exclaimed as the burning sensation began to subside, and the fog of events leading to his predicament all started to make a little more sense. I was…I was fighting Tao, but…I thought I lost? His thoughts were beginning to flood his processor, filling the databanks of his computing mind with data that could not be transmitted into an answer. “How did I get here?!” By now Leon had managed to sit upright, his chest heaving heavy sighs of anxious tension as the inner turmoil was beginning to subside. The heavy bolt of a locking mechanism slid to the side, emitting a hissing noise as the hydraulic components of the doorframe gave way to Dr. Johan’s forceful motions. Leon managed to scramble to his feet as the noise echoed through the room, his eyes watching with nervous tension as a door materialized from nowhere on the pristine silver wall. “At last, you’ve awoken!” The excitement in the doctor’s voice was uncharacteristic, his tone and voice pattern striking a strange chord with Leon as he watched the older gentleman approach. With observing eyes, Leon’s striking blue eyes examined this stranger, even gaining insight on his potential power level through some strange sixth sense trigger. After the initial confusion of seeing the stranger, Leon began to relax, understanding that if left up to self-defense, this doctor would stand no chance against him. “Who are you, and where am I?” The commanding tone of the nude warrior was humorous to the doctor as he slid his bony hands down into the pockets of his trench coat. “My my, aren’t we a feisty one.” Johan twirled the edges of his grey haired moustache in his fingers slowly as he observed the final completion of many years of work. “There is no need to be alarmed, I’m not here to hurt you. My name is Johan Klemens. I work under the supervision of Dr. Gero an esteemed scientist of the former Red Ribbon Army.” Leon listened intently as the man spoke, his mind centering on key words throughout the conversation. Red Ribbon, Gero? Why do these names sound so familiar? “How do I know that I can trust you?” “Because I’m the one who created you.” The words rolled slowly off the professor’s lips as Leon grasped with the reaches of his mind to understand the simple statement. “Created?” he scoffed incredulously oblivious to the large “X” shaped scar that covered the entirety of his chest. “You must be a mad doctor, I was not created old man!” Johan stared in silence as Leon’s false ‘macho’ persona lasted only a moment before crumbling beneath the awful truth he was about to experience. “Laugh if you must, but I will show you the truth.” Johan motioned for Leon to follow him through the ominous appearing door in the steel structure, insistent that there would be answers to his ‘crackpot’ claim once they had arrived in the command hub of the secret laboratory. As they breached the entry way Johan reached for a spare set of clothes hanging on a rack and tossed him to Leon. “Here, for the time being put these on. I’ll have your uniform brought to the control room.” “And why should I follow you? What’s to stop me from ripping you apart here and now?” In all seriousness now that Blue realized he had a way out, there was nothing substantial that this scientist could offer him. The claims of ‘creation’ and the strange circumstances that brought him to this strange location in the first place was more than enough reason to just end this game of follow the leader and leave. “I see your personality has retained its primary characteristics despite having re-programmed your cranial processor.” Johan stopped to face Leon who was sliding his arms through the obviously small overcoat. For a moment the doctor could have sworn that there was an ounce of humanity glistening in the eyes of his new creation, but the moment passed and he soon realized that his work was flawless. Everything was happening too fast for Leon to cope; the strange room he had awoken in, this doctor claiming he had been ‘created’, and the strangest of all the comments Johan continued to make towards Leon himself, speaking as if he were some sort of machine. By now the blonde had already forgotten about his initial intention of murdering the strange-cooky old man, but instead found himself lost within his own thoughts as he followed Johan without question down a maze of endless corridors until finally arriving at a room filled with computer screens. Pictures and images of all sorts flashed upon the monitors as data and statistics were being compiled and processed by the macro programming installed into their hard-drive. “I’m assuming that because I’m still alive, it means you’re searching for answers yes?” There was an almost rhetorical ton in the scientist’s voice as he glanced at the awe-struck look at his creation. “Now, what I’m about to tell you won’t make any sense at all and quite frankly I still find myself marveling at my work.” With a grin he ushered Leon to sit in a nearby chair. “First off, can you tell me your name?” Leon paused for a moment, his mind racing to remember something so common place as his own god-forsaken name. The pain in his skull was beginning to surface again before he finally gave up and motioned the doctor to continue. “Do you remember anything at all about your last conscious experience?” Johan already knew the answers to his questions, but there was something about Leon’s facial responses that triggered what seemed to be an anomaly. Despite having done hours upon hours of maintenance on the Android’s bio-mechanical automated personality system, his subject had managed to retain his ‘pre-procedure’ personality traits. “All that comes to mind is a single name, and a face. Other than that…no I can’t remember anything.” “The man, his name and face are the only things you remember because they were the last things you saw before you died.” Leon’s face drained of color as he leaned closer to Johan. “What?” Was the only word he managed to form on his lips as his heart began racing furiously within his chest cavity. “Approximately twenty years ago, you were killed in a bout with a mercenary ,contracted by the Red Ribbon Army, called Tao.” The names were beginning to click once again in his mind, everything coming together at once as Johan continued his exposition. “Because you failed to accomplish your mission of obtaining the dragon balls from a certain ‘enemy’, you were forced to fight for your life. Either die, or live, and unfortunately Tao was far out of your league. With a single strike, with his tongue nonetheless, the mercenary defeated you.” Leon couldn’t believe the words he was hearing and as far as he was concerned, there was never a fight that he couldn’t win. “By striking your temple you killed almost instantly, however your brain activity continue long after your death. Dr. Gero, the most prominent scientist at the army’s disposal was given the task to bring you back to life as one of his android creations. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, he tasked me with this duty.” “Wait…I’m…not human?” Leon stammered as he waited with anticipation at Dr. Johan’s remarks. “If I’m not human, than what am I!?” “As I said, you are an Android; well a biologically based Android. You are one of the few creations capable of exceeding the expectations of all the models produced after you.” Excitement in Johan’s tone was beginning to bubble to the surface, while Leon still struggled to understand what he had become. “By using the already existing components of your body, you were outfitted with technology far beyond that of your generation. There is currently no Android like you.” Johan grinned from ear to ear, almost bragging about the sophisticated work involved with Leon’s re-creation. “I…don’t know what to say.” The super soldier was stunned, speechless at the realization that life as he knew it would never be the same; though without his memories how could he tell the difference. “The Red Ribbon…are they still united?” Hanging his head, Leon waited an affirmation, but his reply was met only with the side ways shake of professor Johan’s head. “No. They were disbanded after a child, single handedly destroyed the entire headquarters. This was the same child that caused your mission to fail.” At last the cogs in his mind began to turn, the facts coming together and a rage building from within. Leon’s mind was pulsating with pain like before, though now he knew enough that the past memories didn’t matter; right now was the only thing on the forefront of his mind. “This child…what was his name.” There was a seething anger brewing beneath the calloused words of the bio-machine, words that burned with a growing passion from within the very nature of his soul. With a smirk the doctor was beginning to realize what was happening and humored Leon with a reply. “Goku, the child’s name is Goku.” Johan paused for a moment standing and moving to place his hand on Leon’s shoulder and staring the blue-eyed man in the eyes. “Leon,” Johan whispered. “I created you to fulfill the destiny of the Red Ribbon. Together, we will bring an end to the genesis of your problems and once again establish the dominance of the R.R. Army in the universe.” Johan could not believe his eyes as he watched Leon’s face turn from an angered scowl into a sadistic looking grin. Adopting the smile he was so accustomed to portray in his past life as an army general, the mechanized weapon stared into Johan’s eyes. “What do we do first?” Ushering Leon to his feet the doctor pressed a quick sequence of button on a remote stored within the inner pocket of his trench coat. In an instant the twenty plus monitors in the room were displaying numbers, charts, and data all foreign to the android. “This is all the information compiled from Gero’s research and my own during your mechanization process. It should be more than enough information needed to seek out that bastard child, and establish a name for ourselves once again!” Reaching the decibel level of a shout, Leon stepped towards the screens, his eyes scanning over the code entranced by the thought of finally getting his revenge on Goku. “So where do we start?”

Chapter One: Actualization -3- “Push yourself! There will be no mercy from the saiyan boy if you display this level of weakness!” Johan shouted from the observatory window as he watched Leon perform the training exercise. Shirtless and sweating profusely, Leon grunted under each strained breath. Slowly the bio-machine lowered his sharply toned muscular frame to the floor under the strength and stability of a his right arm alone. Leon was far too strong to hand normal physical exercise, however Johan anticipated the bio-weapon’s strength and had a room specifically built to endure whatever destruction might ensue from the revealing of the android’s power. The beams of glistening sweat moisture shone in the bright light of the training area, the luminescent beams from the overhead lights compensating for the lack of sunlight any where in the subterranean locale. Slowly the streams flowed, hugging to every crevice conveniently formed by the flexing status of his physique. I can do this, He thought as the veins on the sides of his head began to bulge as excess blood poured into them. This sort of pressure was un real. Never before had Leon imagined training at a gravity five times that of Earths. In fact, this sort of technology was merely child lore in the youth of his military career. The ground continued to grow ever closer as his body descended to the earthen floor, however it was becoming increasingly difficult to manage his balance. With two hands one had more than sufficient balancing capability and strength to support the entire weight of one’s person. With two hands, Leon was sure that this exercise would be nothing more than child’s play, even at the increased measure of gravity. This was precisely why Johan Klemens insisted on using unilateral training methods to increase his strength; this was the measure of power necessary to attaining the strength needed to crush his opponent. Leon began grunting in pain, his muscles reaching the maximum level of sustainable fatigue. From his deltoids the sensation began, a burning feeling like a hot iron being pressed into his skin. Only instead, a branded image of the hot metal, the sensation continued down his arm numbing his bicep, triceps, and pectorals before splintering across his torso and around his back. Just a bit further… How could this physical exertion, cause him so much pain? Wasn’t Leon Reinhild just another machine incapable of exhaustion? When all hope seemed lost, and the disparity of failure began to set into his mind, an image snapped into his mind. Immediately he could feel the dormant anger lying secret in his core, the fuel to the flame of eternal punishment that he would release on his opponents. This coursing substance of incomparable power was the only ‘push’ necessary to finishing this assignment. Finding the surging strength to continue, Leon’s chest burgeoned with strength and power, his fingers cracking the hard stone beneath them, drilling the tips into the hardened rock. Slowly his body reached the ground, his pectoral muscles touching ever so slightly as the streams of salty liquid dripped like rain into the dirt. Roaring with energy the blonde warrior forced his weight into the palm of his hand, burying it even further in the grainy earth. As sparks of teal energy began to leap from his person, Leon thrust himself back into an upright pushup position, quickly dragging his leg up and alleviating the added pressure to his torso. Heavy deep breaths roared from his mouth, as each breath struggled to escape from his lungs. “You can turn off the gravity now!” He barely managed to shout without getting lightheaded. Just as he finished speaking an audible humming noise resonating in the air suddenly went silent, and all at once Leon could feel the weight lifted from his body. The air flowed more freely thought his chest, his muscles felt relaxed and ready for more as gravity resumed to its natural level. “You did well, much better than the first time.” Johan’s voice echoed through the arena. “But don’t count yourself strong yet, there is much more work to be done if you hope to defeat the enemies of the Red Ribbon Army.” “Enemies?” Leon scoffed as he rose slowly to his feet. The warrior’s tan military fatigues were damp with sweat and his muscles still bulged from the previous one-hundred one-armed pushups. “I thought the purpose of my resurrection was to defeat the saiyan boy.” Leon made his way to the edge of the training arena just below the observation window. Nearing the metallic barrier, he reached and pressed a single button on the surface of the structure. With a loud hiss, and puff of steam, grinding gears began to move into action. The mechanized device whirred to life with the energy produced by the laboratory, causing a set of stairs to come forth from the wall. “That is correct, though, do you think we should stop there? Imagine the terror we could inflict on the world, and the power we could obtain with that insolent boy out of the picture. Earth would be ours for the taking.” The greed was pouring over into Johan’s tone, and Leon could sense the evil lurking within the heart of the crazed scientist. With heavy and tired legs the android climbed the massive stairs, arriving at the observation window where a panel of the metallic wall slid back, providing an entryway into the observation deck. Johan was sitting in a rolling chair, a hand perched beneath his chin deep in thought. “Why should your matters of conquest concern me? All I seek is to destroy the boy that ruined my life.” Leon was as cold as ice as he walked towards a table at the center of the room. Falling into the metal chair beside the table Leon stared at the doctor with his cold blue eyes. “It concerns you, because without me you would be nothing more than a bag of meat buried in the earth you ungrateful machine.” The harsh words of the doctor hissed from his mouth like poison. It was his own will that brought Commander Blue back from the underworld, and it would be his own choice to send him back. Leon glared at the scientist, clenching his fists to prevent the anger bubbling inside to rise to the surface. As a biologically based Android many of the basic instincts of a human prevented him from acting logically like most machines. “Fine. But heed my words doctor; I will not be controlled. You will have your fun for now, but when the time comes I will do what I want.” With all the previous authority of a Red Ribbon leader, Blue confronted the scientist. The android’s latent power was far beyond the capacity of Johan to control, at least in terms of physical strength. “Ha!” The doctor scoffed in arrogance at the blatant defiance by his creation. “You speak as if you have a will of your own.” The doctors eyes narrowed as he rose from his chair and extended his finger towards the android. “You are a machine. You cannot simply do what you wish, because there is nothing in you designed to make you do so. Every action, every thought you may think is your own, is simply the completion of protocol and code. You my boy will always do what I say; because that’s how you were created!” Johan shouted as he began to laugh. “If you even so, ‘think’ to put it in your terms, about disobeying my commands, not that its even fundamentally possible, you’ll find yourself in the exact state that you were brought to me. Dead.” Leon stared in disbelief, his bright blue eyes quivering in anger at the claims of doctor Klemens. Everything within the bio-weapon wanted to leap from his chair and tear into the human’s throat, ripping the trachea from beneath his skin. Instead, Leon was forced to suppress his emotions, emotions that felt all too real to simply be the programming of some computer. With fury and defiant anger, Leon slammed his tightened clenched fist into the steel table of the observation room. Like a gunshot, the collision roared, deafening the human ears of the mad scientist. Johan fell backwards in fear, stumbling back into his rolling chair and onto the hardened ground of the room. Leon could sense the fear in Johan’s eyes, and stared intently into their greyish hue before storming out of the rear entrance of the room.

Chapter One: Actualization -4- The unrelenting hum of the gravitron was a sound Leon would never get used too. Its echoing sound a constant reminder of the strength necessary to train harder and harder. After his altercation with Johan, the android thought it best to train alone, lest he be tempted to reduce the ‘good’ doctor to a heap of ash upon the floor. This was his third time using the gravity increasing technology that Johan had developed, however, no matter how much he was used to walking under the increased gravitational pull, he had the most difficulty practicing martial arts while flying. Leon had discovered quite a few things about himself since his conversion into a bio-android. Unlike most models of his kind Leon was different. Dr. Klemens elected to save the majority of Leon’s original biological material as possible; only enhancing the frame of his test subject with microscopic robotic material to enhance the latent psychic power dwelling within his soul. Every once in a while when Leon managed to gain lift off from the ground by manipulating the air around him via ki energy, flashes of his past life would stream through his conscious mind like movie clips; reminding him that there was still a human beneath his supposed ‘mechanical’ shell. As for the moment, sweat soaked his clothes, his body ripe with the salty liquid as Leon unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks into the air, shadow boxing an imaginary foe. Faster! He thought as he grunted from the immense strain placed on his muscles. Each kick and punch was delivered spot on, cutting through the air with as much speed and strength as he could muster; which to his surprise was much faster than anything he could have delivered in his past life as a human being. However, Leon refused to give Johan the credit he deserved, since their last meeting all respect for Johan had been tossed to the curb. He’d be damned if anyone would manipulate him to do what they want. Leon drove another fist through the air, imagining the face of Johan on the delivering end. With muscles tight and unwavering and sweat emphasizing every crevice of his skin, Leon pushed himself to fly higher into the simulated sky of the arena. Leon concentrated on the ki coursing through every fiber of his being using its power to push his body to new horizons. The same phenomenon began occurring again, a blue aura of swirling energy had begun to manifest itself around him, sparks of lightning cackling as he pushed himself to his limits. With all the might he possessed the blue-eyed blonde haired warrior exploded with power, sending a shockwave of sparkling blue light shooting through the air. The reverberating boom from his transformation shook the walls of the training center, the lights flickering from the surge of psychic power. “What am I?” Hovering in mid-air, Leon looked down at the ground below with startling uncertainty. His heart pulsated with a new life an fervor like never before. This surging new power that pumped through his veins, literally affected the way he perceived the world. No longer did he feel the immense strain of the gravity chamber, instead he felt lighter than ever before. This moment of power felt like true peace; a moment he would never forget as he allowed the bathing light of his azure aura to radiate throughout the room. It was at this moment Leon realized the capability of his true strength as he slowly clenched his fists and felt all but tired. My, my. I didn’t think you would have advanced so far in your training in such a miniscule amount of time. The bliss of this moment, all the joy and excitement brought upon him by the bleeding power emitting from his core, was shattered and broken by the annoying ring of Johan Klemens voice echoing in his mind. “What is this!?” Leon whispered in disbelief as he whirled around searching for the source of the speech. Normally the android could pinpoint the voice of the doctor through a speaker over the intercom, and on the rare occasion, he would hear the doctor speak through open door at the top of the stairs leading to the observation deck. This was something different. The voice resonated from within Leon’s own mind, echoing endlessly in the space between his ears. You haven’t figured it out? I’ll excuse your ignorance from before and elaborate on the success of your creation. The voice spoke once again, this time sparking an angry fuse within Leon’s core. A vein on the side of his head bulged from the pressure of his blood, sparks of azure energy leaping from the whirling storm of kinetic energy around him. The lights began to flicker consistently, dimming even, as he surged with power and anger. Careful careful now. You wouldn’t want to bring this entire base down on top of you would you? “Stop this! Get out of my head!” Leon shouted at the top of his lungs, ripping a blast of energy through the air towards the observation window to his right. With precision and speed beyond human recognition, the blast collided into the large tinted window. Leon’s eyes widened in disbelief, as his condensed sphere of condensed matter dispersed in a cloud of hazy smoke. Johan’s laughter ripped through the air, or rather, Leon’s mind as the energy field of the training facility absorbed and redistributed the blast. For a moment, the lights in the room surged with radiant power, before fading to their reduced levels induced by Leon’s current form. Come now Leon, is this really necessary? If you’ll just listen to what I have to say I promise I’ll stay out of your head as much as you’d like. In reality, Johan was merely extending courtesy to the android, if he wanted to speak to Leon, he’d do it by any means he deemed fit. Though, for the moment Leon agreed to the exposition struggled to suppress the rage building inside him. Excellent. I’m sure through the dismal synapses firing through your brain you understand that while you were a mortal, you were the only person within the Red Ribbon Army that showed any potential of power. Your brain was firing synapses at a rate far faster than thought possible for a human. The capacity of your mind to think and react was near limitless. There was a silence in his mind for a moment as Leon processed the information. I do remember being able to manipulate some things using my mind, but was I really that powerful? My boy, the answer to that question, is yes. Johan chimed in, his communication channels obviously able to hear what Leon was thinking as well. You hadn’t yet tapped into fullness of your power, but you were on the right track. It was an unfortunate coincidence that Goku defeated you, however, I don’t think it a coincidence at all that Red had you fight mercenary Tao in combat. The implications of the doctor were beginning to fall into place, and all at once he could feel his emotions churning violently within. “You can’t mean..” Leon whispered under his breath. All at once the world began to spin and his heart began racing. Memories of his past life began to flash into focus; dismal pictures of soldiers and combat and lastly the grim, long face of the mercenary that ended his mortal life. Yes Leon. I suspect that to prevent you from becoming an uncontrollable force, Commander Red had you murdered in cold blood. As a corpse you posed no threat to his powerful influence, and thus the fight with Tao was a rouse, a front to cover up his deeper motives. Leon was left utterly speechless. His eyes were wide with a mixture of shock and awe as he processed the information from Dr. Klemens. His whole military career ended because he had the potential to be an unstoppable force? Potential?! Leon was absolutely beside himself at the notion. How could the leader of the entire army, dispose of an asset so powerful without thinking twice? “Do you have any proof?” Leon asked half heartedly, realizing that Johan was acting on an assumption; however, the scientist’s answer proved more than enough evidence to the cause. You want proof my boy, look at you! Your power is astounding! You’ve surpassed the level of power you had when you were alive, an unlocked the latent psychic power being held at bay by your mortal mind! “I hate to admit it…but you’re right.” Leon mumbled as he observed himself once more. His muscular stature was beyond comparable to a human, precisely because he was inhuman. The nanotechnology pumping through his veins, enhancing not only his physical capabilities but psychic as well gave him immeasurable power. That, is when the question came to mind. Could he gain even more power? This transformation, was this the limit of his power or could he once again transcend the boundaries between human and machine, and become the most powerful bio-mechanical weapon to have ever been created. While the disparity of his mortal life hung at the edge of his mind, the horizon opened up before him. There was an entire universe at his disposal, waiting not only to be explored, but conquered. So, you’ve come around I see? Just because your mortal life was wasted by the greedy attempt of a single man to dominate the world, does not mean this new life has to be the same. You detest me, and I do not blame you; however, if you work with me and join forces we have the chance to do something monumental. “Klemens, I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you now if our paths align so be it. But I will do what I wish, if you happen to get in my way-“ Your insolence is baffling. But for now, I’ll let you be. Happy training. In moments his voice was gone, and once again Leon was left to his own devices. The doctor would allow him to do what he wanted for now, but for how long? How much longer would he bend to the will of the pathetic man holding him captive? “This power…I can use it to take the world as my own…” As Leon pondered the extent of his power, the entire room began to shake around him. At first it began as a light rumble, a small tremor branching through the walls light lightning sprawling out across the night sky. However, as the tremulous energy reached the roof and the lights began to shake Leon could sense something was going terrifyingly wrong. In an instant where he both hated Johan and desired his advice there was nothing but silence. The communication between the two had been severed. “Damn, what’s going on up there?” The rhetorical question was answered by an explosion of shattering glass raining down from the right, the thick black glass of the observation window cascading downward from the wall like a black waterfall. Smoke billowed from the window frame, closely followed by tongues of licking flame seeking another source of oxygen to get it life. The heat wave slapped hard against Leon’s face, catching him off guard at first, but notifying him of the immanent danger from within the base. “An explosion?” He mumbled incredulously beneath his breath. Since his arrival at the base, the android had never left its confines, nonetheless even imagined returning to the outside world before he was strong enough to take on his previous object of revenge. “Who would attack us here below the surface of the earth?” Another shockwave shook the entirety of the structure, forcing another booming blast of smoke and flame through the remnant of the observation deck and into the training arena. Without wasting another second, Leon bolted for the entry way squinting his eyes as he pierced through the veil of thick heavy smoke. At first the heat and choking haze was just a nuisance, but as he passed through the observation room and further into the base he found it harder and harder to breath. He could barely see through the smoky atmosphere of the laboratory, making out only vague shapes and objects as he flew through the halls. This is useless, I don’t even know where to- This way! Head towards the weapons bay! At last Johan’s voice rang out in his mind, calling the android to the left. Shifting his momentum, the bio android flew down the next corridor, weaving in and out of the debris caused by the internal destruction of the lab. Whoever, or whatever was causing this much damage had to be something of incredible power. As he rounded the next corridor the smoke became less thick, and the air much more breathable than before. A gaping entry way lead into a large hanger looking area, its walls lined with more weapons than Leon could count. Launching himself through the opening the android was met with a powerful fist to the face, sending his body skidding across the floor. The blunt force trauma to the side of his head was powerful, knocking his vision out first momentarily, before he really knew what was going on. As he tumbled across the steel floor, leaving dents and scratches in his wake Leon quickly alerted himself to his surroundings. Driving his right arm into the ground he slowed to a stop and snapped his eyes forward, anticipating another assault from this mystery opponent. Half expecting to see some crazed mechanized monster, the turquoise eyes of the warrior met the deep purple iris’s of an unknown individual. The majority of the stranger’s face was shielded by an obscure black helmet, hiding the remainder of his facial features from sight. Draping over his back was a billowing black cape, dancing in the hot breeze created by the flames biting behind him. The cowl of the elaborate piece of clothing stretched above the neckline, providing extra protection to the flesh beneath. Embroidered in a stunning hue of gold and lavender, the outstretched finger of the anonymous vigilante pointed in Leon’s direction. “What have you done with the doctor!?” Leon shouted as he rose to his feet. Even in his transformed state the punch from the stranger ached with a pulsating pain from head-to-toe, his eyes blurring as he spoke. “He’s been taken care of.” The cold voice of the stranger bore no emotion or ill will. He was speaking simply business. “I have orders to bring you in, you can come willingly or I can use…less civilized methods.” Clear cut and straight to the point, this strange new attacker stated his request of the bio-weapon. There was silence for a moment as the android considered the request of the strange attacker, his mind sensing a greater and more terrifying power lurking beyond the veil of smoke and flame behind the masked crusader. If he valued his life, Leon would most certainly comply. “Excelent.” In a blur of movement and light the caped figure had vanished appearing in front of Leon before he could even blink. And just before the edges of unconscious darkness consumed the remainder of his vision, the pink glowing seal of angelic wings seared their image into Leon’s mind. Collapsing to the ground with an audible thump, Leon’s body reverted to its normal state as the masked opponent slowly pulled the obscuring object from his skull. Just as he did so however, a noice beckoned from the flames behind him. “Inoko, we must hurry. The legion has great plans for this man.” “I know. Master Raven will be pleased to hear that the android has been captured.”
