Galatians 6:8 -What Are We Sowing?

v 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. {KJV}

v 8 If he sows in the field of self-indulgence he will get a harvest of corruption out of it; if he sows in the field of the Spirit he will get from it a harvest of eternal life. {Jerusalem Bible}

‘If he {or she} sows in the field of self-indulgence {his or her flesh}…’. Self-indulgence can be many things from pride, arrogance, or vanity etc. It can also take the form of over eating {not taking care of the Temple that is within you}, watching to much tv, anything that takes your eyes off of our Lord.

‘he will get a harvest of corruption out of it’. Corruption is defined as; dishonesty and lack of integrity, moral deterioration, and physical decay or rot. {Funk & Wagnalls} Corruption is an iniquity and iniquity is corruption! Iniquity is the conscious knowing act of sinning, of complete disregard for your actions and who they affect. Sounds a lot like the definition of corruption to me. The harvest of corruption is not something I wish to have heaped upon my head.

‘if he sows in the field of the Spirit he will get from it a harvest of eternal life‘. The field of the Holy Spirit is truth and obedience to the Lord who brings salvation to the spirit {this is the human spirit as compared to Holy Spirit}, soul and body which is the harvest of eternal life. Eternal life with the Father and the Son who’s glory’s out shine the sun. Saul on his way to Damascus encountered just the glory of Jesus and it {the glory} knocked him from his horse and blinded him.

‘That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved‘. {Romans 10:9}. Anyone who has professed this scripture has eternal life.
