Shalom, Consider this first... Lk 7:33. For John the Baptist has come not eating bread and not drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34. The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold the man is a glutton and a wine bibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ PNT Then consider that we know that Y'SHUA went on a 40 day fast as He was led by YHVH to do. After a prolonged fast when one eats his body will hoard the food that it is given and rapidly add weight. Thus during the fast it is logical to assume that Y'SHUA lost in the neighborhood of 30-40 lbs. Afterwards He would have gained again but it would be purely speculation to guess how much but then we have the verses above to consider. We know that Y'SHUA was a friend of tax collectors and sinners so is it wrong to think that He was also overweight and either a drunk or at the very least was seen drinking allot? We cannot consider what Paul had to say on the subject of drinking or eating for they did not apply to Y'SHUA directly. That is to say, they were not written from the example Y'SHUA lived as far as we know and these verses might indicate. So what I guess I am asking is do we need to "possibly" reconsider the image we have of the man Y'SHUA? Was He actually a somewhat thin to fit person or was he possibly overweight? We then must also question how much He drank? Of course eventually this will all come down to pure speculation again but do we need to examine the possibility that the view we hold of Y'SHUA and The Scriptures may not really be as accurate as we think? 2 Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
