The following excerpt was taken from Living in the Combat Zone by Rick Renner. Just When Your Breakthrough is About to Occur When God calls you to do something, and it is hard, your mind tends to drift to other things. If you aren't truly committed to what God told you to do - right where you are - you will be tempted to think your drifting mind is the leading of the Spirit. Nothing that changes this lost world and drives back Satan's forces is easy! "Drifting" thinking usually comes when you are on the brink of an incredible breakthrough. Usually, God is just getting ready to break through and hell's forces are being driven back, but the pressure becomes too intense, you give in to fear, and you slip away to try your "luck" elsewhere. It is difficult to "endure hardness." It can be hard! Don't let anyone kid you: The devil hates what you are attempting to do in your city, your ministry, your business, or your family. He can't bear the thought of God winning another fight! That is why you must "endure hardness." All God needs is one person who will endure hardness, stay right where he is, and fight until Satan is conquered. God is looking for combat zone fighters! How to Get Rid of Locusts Another significant danger to the farmer and his field was the threat of devouring locusts. Locusts were a farmer's most horrid worry and cause for concern and fear. They were the worst nightmare possible. Just one large swarm of locusts could ravage an entire field in a matter of days, or sometimes in a matter of hours. To make matters worse, farmers in Bible days did not have any sophisticated machinery or pesticides to remove these horrible scavengers from the plants in their fields. And because the locusts were so numerous, it was impossible to remove them by hand. There weren't enough workers in the entire land to combat the thousands upon thousands (if not millions) of locusts that could light upon one man's field. Also, locusts eat so fast that the field would be destroyed before any work had begun. Locusts didn't make their grand appearance until the crop was grown and it was time for harvest! Why? Because that is when there was something to eat and chew! Prior to this, there was nothing of consequence for them to devour. Therefore, they waited until the seed had grown, the crop was beautiful and nearly matured - just about ready to be reaped - and then they would come to eat up everything in their path. The locusts came to devour the fields at harvest time! At first, it seemed there was no remedy for this situation. If your field was infested with locusts, you simply lost your harvest. The farmers knew of no plan or mechanism to remove these destroyers. They didn't have any pesticides. Then, finally, they came up with mechanism to remove these destroyers. They didn't have any pesticides. Then, finally, they came up with a last-ditch effort - a counterattack against these vile creatures. They discovered locusts hate smoke! Rather than letting the locusts eat the field, they learned to start a big fire. The size of the locust infestation determined how large a fire they would kindle. If the infestation was large, they would pile heaps and heaps of wood onto the fire to create a massive blaze and dense, dense smoke. If the locust attack was smaller, it required a smaller fire and less smoke. With a huge fire burning, the smoke from the blaze poured upward into the sky, billowing gray and black smoke until the air was filled with ash and pollution. When the smoke densely filled the air, their counterattack worked! The locusts, unable to breathe, would be suffocated to death. Eventually, they would fall out of the air, right into the burning fire, where they burned until completely consumed. Smoke gets rid of locusts. Holy Ghost Smoke In a similar fashion, we who sow God's Word into hearts must learn how to deal with "locusts," the demonic spirits or scavengers who come to eat up the harvest for which we've been waiting. Just like the locusts of the air, demon spirits may allow the crop to grow for a while. They may wait to attack until the crop has begun to mature and you're headed for your harvest season. That is when they can do the most destruction! Often, because we haven't had any previous attack, and things appear to be going along nicely, we forget the threat of spiritual attack. It is then, when we are neglectful of this possibility, that the enemy attacks. He waits until the ministry is growing, maturing, and finally doing its best work. Then, like locusts descending on a field, he attacks, sending unbelievable hordes of opposition into our camp. It is remarkable how a good church or ministry can blow up almost overnight! Hundreds of churches and ministries in recent years have been wiped off the map forever by a surprise attack from Satan's headquarters. We must not allow ourselves to become blind to the possibility of attack. None of us is above this type of predicament. Regardless of how sweet things look, how green the pasture is right now and how promising the future looks, we must remember: There is an enemy out there who wants to destroy God's Church! What should you do if demonic devourers attack your field? Start a fire and release some Holy Ghost smoke! There is no other counterattack to deal with a demonic infestation. Satan knows how to start so many crisis's, he can keep you running from one problem to another, another, and another. The problem is, all the wise counsel in the world, your best intentions, and your earnest desire and hard work aren't going to repel a satanic attack. You might say, "I know! I'll call the prayer warriors together and they will put an end to this problem." Thank God for prayer warriors, but when a major demonic attack occurs, there aren't enough prayer warriors in the land to deal with a large invasion of demonic troops. Even if you could get enough believers together to do combat (the first miracle would be getting them together!), it would probably be too late. In our society, it takes time to get people together. It takes time to get people to "agree" about "what" they should "agree for in prayer." Everyone seems to think he or she should voice an opinion about "the real problem," speak their own insight about how to combat the attack, and teach their particular revelation about how the problem started and who is to blame for letting the devil into our camp! By the time our ranks finally get together and find a point of agreement, the damage is already severe. Instead, we must learn to turn up the fire of the Holy Spirit! Demon spirits hate Holy Ghost smoke! Rather than worry, fret, or handle these attacks from man's point of view, let us release the smoke of the Holy Ghost! As Zechariah 4:6 says, "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." Turn the Fire Up Satanic attacks on your fields, the Church, your ministry, your family, or perhaps your business, must be dealt with by fire and smoke. This is a time for you to let the fire of the Spirit burn more brilliantly than ever before. And, if the attacks against you are large, this means you must build a bigger fire. The larger the attack, the larger the fire that is required. If the attack is small, then less fire is needed to combat the attack. With the fire of the Holy Spirit blazing hot within us, we must release the smothering smoke of the Spirit into the spirit realm, to suffocate the demonic presence and drive them out of our camps. If they refuse to leave, fine! Let them fall out of the spirit realm, suffocating in God's overwhelming power as they hurl downward to their destruction, right into the Holy Spirit's fire, to be burned until they are totally consumed. The choice is before them. The options for them are: flee in terror from the Spirit's smoke, or be totally consumed in God's wrath. Remember, "our God is a consuming fire" (Heb. 12:29). Absolutely nothing is more effective in turning away demonic attack than to release a strong, hot blaze of the Spirit's fire and His powerful, suffocating smoke. You reign in every part of our lives! * You are such a good, good, good GOOD God! * We're turning a corner * If we continually press into Him and declare that our God reigns and Jesus is Lord of our lives, keep our hearts washed and purified by His Blood, whatever someone says about you or does to you, don't let that have an effect on God's plan for your life * Who is above God Almighty? What name is above the name of Jesus? * That name is above and it's up to us to keep us walking in love! * Praising His name and giving glory to God * Keep on walking in His authority and love! * That corner that we were turning, it seemed like a wall put us to a stop, but it was only fake or faux, a pretend that the devil put up * But if we'll keep on praising and if we'll keep on worshiping and if we'll keep the fires within us burning, it's up to us to stir, it's up to us to contend, it's up to us to press and we will continually walk over and completely in * We'll look back on the days that we're living in now and know that the devil was trying to stop us or thwart our plan, but we'll see he was defeated because of the power of the Blood and in the Name * The devil can only try to fake us out or pretend it's this way or that * But based on God's Word, based on the Creator of the universe, things are looking up and things are turning out just right, right on time! * We don't know how to work things out, only You do * We put our trust in You * We plead the Blood over our church, every facet, every detail and the plan * Everything that was predestined by God shall come to pass * Every position, every element will work out the way You predestined it to work out * The Blood of Jesus is over every person who calls this their home-it's a family! * The Blood thwarts every plan of the enemy and makes a way where there was no way * Holy Ghost given ways today * Thank you for refreshing! (Take deep breath and breathe Him in!) * We walk in love and we have the time to do what He's called us to do * That means we have the strength to go through! * Sometimes our bodies will say "no," but we speak to our bodies and say "yes you will function and you will do what God needs you to do! Body, get up and move on and do the plan!" * We're not backing off but we must continually pursue * Your all consuming fire baptizing us once again * We want to be known as "people of fire!" * If we're not different then we must not be walking in the Spirit * Thank you for more souls today and all the laborers * Bring them in Lord! |
