v 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. [ 35 Therefore do not cast from you your confident hope, for it will receive a vast reward.] v 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. [ 36 For you stand in need of patient endurance, so that, as the result of having done the will of God, you may receive the promised blessing.] Two verses in I Peter come immediately to my mind - 1: 21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God, and 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: I have a ‘confident hope’ because our Father calls us sons and daughters., and a faith and a hope because our Father never lies not like that someone we are all too familiar with that wants to ‘kill, steal, and destroy’. And I count it a recompence of (vast) reward just to serve my Father and my brother Jesus. Patient endurance (just patience!) is something that my Father has been trying to work into me for what seems like a long long time, and by golly I do believe that it’s starting to sink in. The more I do the will of my Father (God), the more patience endurance I am recognizing that He is working in me. Bring it on Lord, I want/need more of you and less of me! |
