Dear Ones,

With permission from a dear brother in Christ, I am sharing this as a reminder of Whose we are and what we've been given through Christ:

The Power of the Blood
August 23, 2004
By: Surfer

You know I was there that Sunday night...sometime in early 1973...

The crowd that had gathered in the canvas tent was moved by the Spirit of God as the singer sang about the Blood of the Lamb. He sang that there is power in the Blood. Power in the Blood. The people were getting set free as the song continued. The spiritual atmosphere increased with each proclamation of, "There's power in the Blood." It seemed as if the Holy Spirit fell on the meeting more so with each proclamation. It was like something out of the Bible!

Sadly the man was never invited back to that church again.

The man was Andrea Crouch, and the Church, well,... it was on its way to becoming wealthy and full of good works, never to be equated with Pentacostalism.

Lets go into just what Andrea Crouch had presented to those people that night in song.

The Blood of Jesus

Revelation 12
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb...
If we Christians really understood how precious and powerful the Blood of our Savior is in our walks, we would be well on the way to being overcomers.

There is a scene in Mel Gibson's movie The Passion where Jesus's mother and Mary are wiping up the blood on the ground in the area where Jesus received the thirty nine lashes. Protestant Christians were thinking to themselves as they viewed the scene, "gee it must be a catholic thing." Others were thinking, "Ewww, how gross!"

The precious Blood of our Lord not only serves as an atonement for our sins, it totally devastates the demonic realm. At the mention of the Blood of Jesus, demons literally tremble with fear. The Blood cleanses in the spirit, and burns the demons. The powers of darkness can never stand against the Blood of Jesus Christ.

In 1977 I had the humble honor of standing on the exact location of the cross of Christ on top of the place of the skull, Golgotha. I could see three circles of small stones had been placed where the three crosses of Jesus and the two theifs were located. So I did what any young Christian would have done, I stepped into the middle circle. There I was on location where the precious Blood had first touched our troubled planet. It stirred me deeply.

Like most things in the spirit, faith must be an active ingredient in claiming the Blood or using it as a weapon. The Blood is precious to man because it is precious to God. God shows us very early in the Word the importance of blood to Him and all mankind.
Genesis 3
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

To obtain skins, blood had to be shed. They were covered in fig leaves, but fig leaves will never do. Only blood can provide a covering for mankind. The word "atonement" means "covering." Only blood will cover our sins. God already had plans to save mankind. He knew the precious blood of His Son would one day be shed for the world.

In Genesis chapter four, God respected Abel's sacrifice of a lamb, but He rejected Cains's sacrifice of fruits and vegetables. God showed that a sacrifice through blood was the only sacrifice acceptable to Him. Cain misunderstood, and many Christians also misunderstand the importance of the blood. Fig~leaf coverings and vegetable sacrifices will never do. Churches that do not know the power of the blood of Jesus have fig~leaf and vegetable ministries. Cain doubtlessly worked hard for his fruits and vegetables; but no matter how hard he worked, no matter how many fruits and vegetables he grew and gathered, it could not provide a covering for sin. In church terms, no matter how many good works a person does, if the Lamb's blood is not in his life, there is no salvation, no atonement, and no pleasing God.

Leviticus 17
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.

The Bible says that the life is in the blood- not the heart, kidneys, or brains. The life of Jesus is in His Blood. It is the life in the blood that turns back death. Life defeats death. In Exodus 12:7 and 13, God instructed Moses to have the people kill a perfect lamb, one for each household of fifteen people, and to sprinkle its blood on the sidepost and lintel of the door. When the Angel of Death passed by, it did not enter any household with the blood so sprinkled, for God did not allow it to enter. Death is an enemy. The Bible says that Jesus will sit at the right hand of the Father until all of His enemies are put under His feet.

1 Corinthians 15
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Only God's perfect Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ, will do. It is His Blood that protects us from death to pass over. No fig leaves or fruits will do it- no good works- just faith, the grace of God, and the blood of the Lamb.
It is the Blood that atones for the soul.

Leviticus 17
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
The Blood atones or covers sin.

Hebrews 9
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Without His shed Blood we would be forever doomed.

As we could see in the movie "The Passion" thirty nine stripes slashed Jesus's back, and the cruel whip with pieces of bone at the end tore His flesh and ripped it apart. Under Roman law, a man could not be whipped more than forty times, and if the person administering the whipping exceeded that amount, he would in turn be punished severly. Therefore, to make sure that forty strips was not exceeded accidently, they stopped at thirty nine.
Interesting to note medical books separate all types of disease and sickness into thirty nine categories. It is no coincidence that the number of stripes on His back was thirty nine.

1 Peter 2
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

It's the blood from the stripes
that heals. Jesus sits in glory at the right hand of the Father, but His blood still heals on earth. Its power can never be lost.
The priests in Moses day were ordained by placing blood on their right ears, hands, and feet. The Blood cleansed them of sin and set them apart for service unto God. God designated the tribe of Levi for priestly duties. Not all Levites were priests, but all priests were Levites. Those called to service in the temple were consecrated by the Blood. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, sits at the right hand of the Father. He consecrated Himself for service unto the Father and all of mankind. It is His Blood that consecrates and sets aside those who desire to serve through the Blood.

Many times in the Old Testament, God demonstrated the importance of blood. The priest in Moses tabernacle poured out the blood of the animal sacrifices onto the ground around the brazen altar to the ark of the covenant and then from the candlestick to the table of the showbread, it forms a perfect cross. The brazen alter represents the foot of the cross. The blood of the sacrifice was poured onto the ground there. The priest sprinkled some blood on various items of furniture in the Holy Place, and on the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies, but they poured most of the blood out on the ground around the brazen alter.

One day, much blood would be poured out on the earth at the foot of the cross on Calvary. There was blood on the cross, on His feet, back, and head. The blood poured down His arms, sides, and legs down into the earth. Into the earth at the place of the Skull, the place of death.

He was from heaven and came to shed His Blood for those on earth. He hung between heaven and earth. He was God, and yet He was fully man. He is called the Son of God, and yet He is also called the Son of man, even in heaven.

Revelation 14
14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

There is no other like Him. His Blood is poured out on the earth, but it never dies, it never dries up, it never rots, it never becomes corrupted It lives forever. It is on the earth for all those who believe.

Have you ever thought about just how many animals Israel slaughtered as sin sacrifices from Moses day until the coming of Jesus, it will astonish you. For instance, most Bible scholars claim that between two million and three and one half million Israelites took part in the exodus from Egypt. Fifteen people comprised one household. If so, then the Hebrew people killed between 133,333 and 233,333 lambs on the first day of the Passover. In Solomon's day, Bible scholars estimate that over 6,000,000 Israelites lived in Iarael. That means at least 400,000 animals shed their blood when Solomon's temple was dedicated. The blood would have flowed like a river. Even if those figures were exaggerated, the blood would have been like a river. Can you imagine how many animals shed blood between the time of Moses and Jesus's crucifixion?

You see, God wants us to know that the blood of Jesus covers the earth. It flows like a river, never drying up, never ending. There's blood enough for all.

Historians report that the Wales Revival of the early 1900's began when God gave a preacher's wife a vision of the Blood of Jesus flowing and pouring upon the earth like Niagara Falls. "There's so much Blood," she cried out. Whenever God's people called out, "The Blood of Jesus," the Holy Spirit fell on the meeting, and the revival began. Thereafter, the call of "The Blood of Jesus" and "There's power in the Blood" became the rallying cry for Christians everywhere. There is no substitute for the Blood; it still cries out.

Revelation 5
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain...

There's Blood in heaven.
The Lamb of God stands before the throne, as if slain. There is Blood on the Lamb. When the Father sees the Blood on the Lamb, He knows that Jesus shed His precious Blood for you and me. The Father sees only the Blood of His Son. The Blood covers us, atones for us. He accepts us without reserve. We can now come boldly into the very throne room of God because of the Blood.

Hebrews 10
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,...

The Blood covers all believers. The Blood atones for our sins and covers us. The Blood makes us kings and priests unto God. As God's priests, we minister in the Holy place and even the Holy of Holies before the throne of God. There is Blood not only in heaven, in the Holy of Holies, but also on earth where the Body of Christ ministers to Him.

Pleading the Blood brings the Holy Spirit like nothing else. For you see, the Spirit, water, and Blood agree on earth. Water often stands for the Word of God.

Ephesians 5
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it (the church)with the washing of water by the word,
Without the cross and the Blood, the Word alone would not bring salvation. The Word therefore agrees with the Blood. The Holy Spirit agrees with the Blood. He comes quickly when you claim the Blood of Jesus with faith.

1 John 5
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Mention the Blood or the Word, and the Holy Spirit agrees. Plead the Blood or confess the Word, and the Spirit responds. God not only inhabits the praises of His people, He responds to the Blood and the Word. The Word and the Blood agree because it is the Blood that empowers the Word and the Word that confesses the Blood.

So Andrea, I don't know exactly what happened that night so long ago, what I do know, brother, is that you were so very righton. There is power in the Blood.

The movie The Passion is coming out on DVD the 31st of August. When you\we view all the bloody scenes, lets bear in mind the truth behind what we are seeing depicted. Yes Mary and Mary knew exactly what they were doing, wiping up the Blood, the most precious gift ever...

Joan,

Thank you so much for sharing this... :way2go
It is beautiful and sobering at the same time to think of the Blood.
As in the Old Testament it is said that the blood contains life.
For by His Blood we have life!!!! Amen!
