Blessing Saints,

Ya know, God is so incredible that He ceases to amaze me. Just when I think He has blessed me so big He proceeds to do it again in an unexpected way just leaving me in awe and praise of Him. Father, we love You!

Maybe this won't be such a big deal to you but it was to me. Yesterday our neighbor's youngest son asked for my help with organizing a way of helping collect donations for Katrina victims. By the way, Aaron was born two days before our youngest daughter, B.J., and I ended up in the same hospital room with his Mom after delivering my daughter. Cool, huh? When I was sharing with Billy how Aaron had helped me I thought of Jew and Gentile (now born again in Christ, hallelujah!) coming together. Kind of reminded me of that dream I had where I was handed an American flag with a note saying "this flag is approved by Israel." Oh, God is moving in a wonderous way. All glory and honor is due Him. Well, that was blessing number one.

Today Aaron and I got together to put down some idea and to list points of contact we need to make to see how, where and what is available to make this happen. He was going to call the town hall and see what is going on there and what we could do and I was going to call the Salvation Army to see what was needed and if we could possibly have one of their trucks come to pick up items that we had collected. When I called I found that they were only taking monetary donations at this time to aid in the primary needs at this time and then buying those supplies in the southern states which would be most cost effective and ready help for those who need it. What I didn't know was some of the other information that Gail, the woman from Salvation Army had to offer and that is what I am desiring to share with those who might be interested in helping in this way. Blessing number two!

While the Salvation Army is collection monies at this time they are also offering a website, along with other agencies, to those who are interested in providing housing at this time for these dear people who have lost everything. The website is: http://katrinahousing.org/

Not only that, they are looking for people who would be willing to make two (2) week commitments to go to these disaster areas to aid of the care of these people. There is no guarentee exactly what you would be doing but you would definately be extending God's arm of love out to those who are greatly in need. The number she gave me is for those living in Connecticut and I am sure you can find a number for your local Salvation Army and inquire there. She also gave a webist to apply for an application to disaster services online and this is for the eastern portion of our country but you can check it out for yourself and if it doesn't apply to where you live perhaps you can be led from there to the right area. the website to the get an application is: http://salvationarmy-usaeast.org/

This is such a time to rise up as the body of Christ bringing glory and honor to our heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ. it is a great opportunity to show the world that Jesus is alive in 2005 and working through the lives of His people.

God bless you all,
Joan
