Sorrow and grief go hand in hand and in most cases become interchangeable. Consider your emotional state at the passing of a loved one, sorrow for their passing and grief because you feel that you should have done more for or with this loved one when they were alive. Sorrow can cause depression and we all know and understand that depression cannot only take its’ toll on your spiritual well being but also can and will play havoc on your physical body.

About a year ago the younger brother of a friend of our youngest daughter {we are casual friends of this girls parents} died in an accident at his home. We went to the wake and seeing that young boy laid in that casket nearly took me to my knees. I was overcome with sorrow and grief and anger at our enemy that took this boy. I have never felt such sorrow and grief. I’ve been to wakes/funerals in the past for my uncles, cousins, I was the last one to see my paternal father alive, but nothing prepared me for the emotions that I felt at that time. For days and days afterward, I did not feel like I had any life in me, such is the emotion of “sorrow”.

Can we even imagine how our Heavenly Father responds to one much less millions of His children who have died a physical death never having the opportunity to get to know His Son and confess Him as Lord in their lives? or even having the opportunity or many not only having the opportunity to know but get to know Him and then Him rejected Him? The pain, anguish, and sorrow that He must feel? I know that the rains that fall are necessary for growth and renewal but whenever the rains come, I see the drops of rain as tears the God is shedding for lost souls, unborn babies, infants, men and women who have died never having the opportunity or having the opportunity reject Him and the salvation that brings.

I selected just a few verses from scripture that have been in placed in my heart;

Proverbs 15:13 “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” {The consequences of sorrow}

John 16:22 “And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” {sorrow for the moment, joy everlasting}

II Corinthians 7:10 “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” {godly sorrow brings us to His Son, His Son brings us salvation}

I Peter 2:19 “For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.” {the statement of faith}

Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” {THE PROMISE}

God WILL wipe away all earthly tears, there will no longer be death, no earthly sorrow nor earthly crying, and there will no longer be any pain, Godly crying and Godly tears will be shed with exceeding joy for we will be home with our Lord and Master.
