It was late July 04, before three hurricanes came through Florida, two of which were right over the park where I co-manage.

Before these storms, the boss was evaluating the cost of triming the oaks we have in the park. There are a lot of them. The cost of the bucket truck, the triming, and the removal was up in the thousands to do a good job. :faint

Then, boom, hurricane Charlie came right up the highway toward us. He turned about ten miles before hitting us square on, but we got some strong winds, up around 100mph. These winds hit this park with a force.. bang. A couple of trees went over, and several limbs, and lots and lots of leaves were blown off.

Now, get this.

The two or three trees that came down only laid down next to the trailers. Not on them.
The limbs fell here and there, but not hurting anyone or anything.
And all the leaves... well, when the next storms came through, the wind stress was removed from the trees because they had very little leaves. Pretty cool huh?

And, the clean up? Well, all the limbs and trees were taken out front to the street where the city would pick them up for free.
Extra workers were hired throughout the city to help, thus new jobs were formed.

So, we got a free tree triming that cost us nothing and no one hurt. And we were prepared for the next two storms that came right over us.

God really did a good job.
