Jesus said, Luk 8:12 "Now the [ones] beside the road are the ones hearing, then the Devil comes and snatches away the word from their heart, lest having believed, they are saved. Luk 8:13 "But the [ones] on the rock [are those] who, whenever they hear, receive the word with joy, and these have no root, who for a time believe, and in time of temptation [or, trial] fall away. Luk 8:14 "But the [seed] having fallen into the thorns, these are the ones having heard, and going, are choked by anxieties and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and do not produce mature fruit. I had heard it said that the Lord will speak a word and that the Word we hear must be grasped tight and held onto. At the time I heard this, I could not understand why a Word from God would have to be so tightly guarded.. I mean, it was from Heaven, right? The first few things I heard from Heaven where indeed profound, and there was little that I needed to do to hang onto them. It was if they exploded into my spirit changing me forever. And even today, He will still speak to me like this.. profoundly. But, there are other times when His guidence is that "small still voice." These are the smaller revelations that help direct my steps thoughout the day. These are also those things that so easily get choked by circumstances in life, especially during the business day. This type of atmopshere, busy and common everyday life, are good places where the Lord sharpens our hearing of His voice. It takes diligence to continue in Him every minute of the day. For a long time, it was if the Lord would send me off to work and then meet me after work. I knew this was not true, but it sure seemed like it. It bugged me big time. I am a nibbler.. I nibble at His table all day long. When I can not 'nibble' I get hungry. Over a time, this "send me off to work" stuff really got to me. I began a constant.. "God... help me hear You alllllll daaaayyyyy Long, Pleasssssssse!" Now, when I sit still, He is quick to reassure me that He is here. I am able to receive direction and instruction. Hallelujah. But.. I have to make the effort to sit still and look for Him. In this atmosphere of this world, hearing the Lord is not the easy flow, all consuming, continuous flow that they are experiencing in Heaven. We have to press in, open our ears, and listen. We have to keep our minds renewed and keep the cares of this world from coming in and setting up a stronghold that will deny us the wonderful voice and guidence from our Heavenly Father. May I quote? Quote John G. Lake _________________________________________________ Corroding cares come and get in around your spirit life, and it just covers you and breaks your connection with the Lord. This is true. The real first healing is the healing of your spirit, getting your spirit adjusted to the Lord. The spirit is the part othat contacts the Lord. If the spirit is out of harmony and out of condtion, and is sort of broken down, you can't get faith for healing, can you? No, you must become adjusted to the Lord. ...... That the spirit life in man is kept healthy and vigorous by three exercises. There are more ways, but three in particular. One is feeding on the Word. Second is a continual public confession of what you are and what Jesus is to you. I am not talking of sin: I mean confession of your faith in Christ, of what Christ is to you, of His fullness, His completeness, and His redemption. And the third thing is communion with Him. Feeding on the Word, confession, and communion. Three simple thing, aren't they? And yet they are the things that produce great spiritual life. John G. Lake Published by Roberts Liardon pp 596 unquote _____________________________________________________ We need our "great spiritual life." Those around us need us to walk in our 'great spiritual life' in order that they too may see the good things of God in our lives and we won over from the world into the Kingdom. You know, Jesus paid that ultimate price so that we can fellowship with and our Father. 1Jo 1:3 what we have seen and have heard we declare to you*, so that you* also shall be having fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship [is] with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ And, this fellowship is so sweet. Let's press in, hang on, and diligently keep our gardens cleans so that we can walk through the garden with our Beloved. He is the twinkle in our eye. |
