My husband and I were studying the other night on the authority of the believer and we came across these verses in Mark 13:

34. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

I don't remember hearing much taught on this passage (or I just totally missed it!) But, ding, the light came on. :idea

This is Jesus speaking to His disciples about the last days parelleling Matthew 24.

How clear it is that Jesus was telling them of His ascension and that He would be returning one day. In His absence, He expected His servants to carry on with His work. In order to do His work, they had to have His authority, His power, by His Word, His Name, and the Holy Spirit!

Praise the Lord that the eyes of our understanding are still being enlightened!!

God bless,
Chris

You're right..

I had not seen this one either. It goes right along with 'all authority has been given to Jesus, in heaven and in earth' (paraphrased ).
I have been pondering this topic of late and the verse you share fits right in. Thanks.

I have been meditating on who we are on this earth until Jesus returns. I really don't think I have the full grasp of it yet. I see evidence of it in my life all over the place, but my heart wants to hedge and not fully grasp the place we are given to stand. It truly takes a renewing of the mind. But this is a powerful scripture you have shared and will help put things in perspective.
