PRAYER ALERT: Gospel Star's Daughter Hit, Killed by Car Aimee Herd (May 21, 2008) "It looks like a tragic accident." Chapman family(Nashville, Tenn.)—In a tragic accident, the five-year-old daughter of Christian recording artist, Steven Curtis Chapman, was killed this afternoon when she was struck by an SUV driven by her teenage brother. According to the AP report, the older sibling of Maria—one of Chapman's adopted daughters from China—did not see the little girl, and she was hit by the vehicle in the family's driveway. The tragic event was witnessed by several other family members. Maria was reportedly rushed to the hospital, but died later. "It looks like a tragic accident," said a spokesperson for the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The Chapmans founded the ministry, Shaohannah's Hope, to assist in foreign adoptions, and have two other children they also adopted from China. Prayers have been lifted up for this family as soon as I read about this event. We had a similar thing occur to a family we knew and have witnessed all the sadness, pain and guilt it cam bring to the sibling that was driving and the family members who feel the great loss. Father, please bring great comfort, freedom from guilt and great hope and healing through Your dear Son, Christ Jesus. Amen. |
