Well, opps again. When I started my walk with the Lord, there were some changes that He made in my life, old habits that He broke. One of these was an obsession to keep the house clean. I had a pattern, a routine that I followed every day. This pattern really manifested when I re-entered college. After school, I would clean the house, the dishes, my study area, or whatever I needed to do before sitting down to do my homework. On top of that, it was easy for me to be distracted during my study time with something that needed to be done. If I had things clean enough, then I needed to re-arrange my area. You know, put the desk over on the other side of the room, or move the bookshelves.. or something. But, in my first three years of training with the Holy Spirit, He took all that out of me and helped me to just let it go. It was alright not to have a perfect house. What happened was that I would begin my studies, and then when I needed a break, I would do a little, just a little here and there. It was a good pattern and the Word and Prayer became my focus, not the kitchen counter. ![]() Well, over the past few years, I gathered a zoo around my house. I had five birds and three dogs. None of them were outside animals. That sort of pulled me back into cleaning. I got it into my head that the Lord would have me to have a nice clean house. Well, I went overboard and found myself cleaning and cleaning instead of studying and praying. By the time I got to my desk to study the Word, it was either time to close for the night, or I was too tired. Of late, the Lord has had me reviewing some of our First Steps and "points" that He taught me during those first three years. This is the second one that I have busted on. (I will post the other one later) I saw that I was getting entangled in things, but just did not see it clear enough until I read Peter's article. I have a quote from it to share: Now those noises are not just what we classify as noise but the kind of noise that comes is this in Mark 4: 19 “and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” Now if you know in this life that there is something very dangerous to the Word of God in your life, would you be careful to watch over it? Of course, now some of those dangerous things are not what we consider dangerous in our natural man. They are, for example, the cares of this world. Do you know what the cares of this world are like? I mean everyday you have housework to do. Everyday you have your office work, business deals, datelines to meet, bills to pay, children to take care, books to study, reports to make etc. You could get so absorbed in them that they are strangling the Word of God in your life. Wouldn’t you be watchful of it? Yet a lot of people are not watchful. They just allowed the cares to overtake them and choke the Word. You don’t have to break the Ten Commandments to lose your productivity in God. All you have to do is get the cares of this world and they choke the Word. We have to be very watchful and treat all these things as enemies. All your jobs on this earth, you do it watchfully. You have to constantly watch and pray with awareness that these things won’t pull you down. And you got to say no many times. When we moved into the new house, there were hundreds of thing to do. Boxes and boxes and I have got to tell myself, forget it, I am going to leave them untidy. Let me feed my spirit man. I got to say no to it. I will give only that amount of time to do this kind of things. The rest of the time I just want to seek His face. The world may call you a fool, the world may call you all kinds of names but in heaven you got a bigger reward. You rather be called a fool here than to be called a fool in heaven. Although in heaven everybody is so nice, they won’t call you a fool. You don’t need to be called a fool because you will know it. You will know as you are known. We got to put ourselves to a stop. Lets not get too busy about this life. It doesn’t matter even if it doesn’t look like a human habitation. Some of our homes probably will look like Away in the manger. If your home looks like a manger shake hands with me, it’s all right. I would rather have Jesus and a manger than a palace without Jesus. http://www.eaglevision.com.my/jc4solitude.htm ~ ~ ~ unquote Well, that just about says it. Except, if you plan on visiting, I would ask that you call first... for your sake. lol stace |
