Revelation and Established authority
Notes on Peter Tan's Sermon
http://eaglevision.com.my/mp3spiritualauthority.htm

- Behind authority are blessings or curses, authority comes with responsibility.
- Everyone has same authority, but different realms and different levels.
- The bases of authority arises from spiritual revelation, including hearing God.

In Jeremiah 28, we see two prophets: Jeremiah and Hananiah. Jeremiah was sent from God, whereas, Hananiah was a people's prophet. He was popular with the government class. He came from a family of prophets, so it is sure that he knew the stuff, but his revelation was not from God. Hananiah's did not arrive from his own personal revelation, and the authority and revelation that his father had was not transfered to him. Hananiah was moving beyond his area of revelation.

Whereas, No one liked Jeremiah. He was always accused of telling them the bad news
and that he was destroying the people's morale. Jeremiah would have loved to give good news too, but he was bound to give the truth.

So, in this showdown, we have Jeremiah on one side saying that the Jews should go on and live and grow in Babylon, whereas Hananiah was saying that the Lord had broken the yoke of the king of Babylon and that within two years everyone would be home and things would
be good again.

Hananiah was the established authority, and Jeremiah was the anointed authority with revelation from God.

- The more authority ... the more you have to hear the Lord. It is God's word that is the authority.
- The issue is: 'Have you heard from God?" If you have heard from God, the world needs to know about it.

- If you are a manager and you fail to use your authority, and something fails, you are responsible, The same thing applies to our spiritual delegated authority. It is one thing to her nice, but we must also be scriptural.
- Loving and nice does not always appear. Greater love demands truth, Spiritual authority demands we take a firm hand;
- Standing on a revelation from God can be one of the hardest things to do in this life. Sometimes you are standing alone, You are like the sharp part of the arrow.
- God gives us spiritual authority through revelation and expects us to stand firm. If you do not stand firm the Church will be tossed to and fro. No one has all the revelation, Revelation is an anchor to God.
- The stand has to be a steadfast and unmovable stand. After a while, people will gather with you, but they won't stand with you at first.
- Revelation is not taught by men, but by Jesus Christ.

- When you have a Church meeting, you don't stand and say,
"I have a word from God, He says, 'Yes!'" and then go off to make the coffee. No.
You begin to talk as a group and share the impressions.
- In a church structure, put in charge the one who has the
most Bible knowledge and revelation.
