11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. - Job 36:11 There are two key words in this verse of scripture, ‘obey’ and ‘serve’. To obey one must make a confession of faith and be willing to follow the commandments of our Lord when ever our minds and bodies say “NO” not me Lord I’m not willing to go there or do that. We must take our minds and bodies and make them captive to the Holy Spirit within us. Then we will be able to obey with no hesitation or asking why. Obedience to our Lord is first and fore most. To serve him is an honour and privilege that we all should strive for, for what greater honour and privilege is there? Serving him can take many forms, prayer, witnessing to the lost, to the simple service of cleaning up your local church. Even our Lord and Saviour cleansed {cleaned} the temple {church} not once but twice. Can we do less? As long as it is done in the name of Jesus you are serving him and giving him all the honour and glory. “spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures” it is true, that this is literally and spiritually fulfilled in all genuine followers of God. Every man is happy, in whatever circumstances, whose heart is unreservedly dedicated to God the creator of all. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights {James 1:17}, and I for one what to ‘spend my days in prosperity, and my years in pleasures’. Obey and serve him and you will have ‘every good and perfect gift from the Father of lights, creator of the universe. |
