"And I will make them and the places round about My hill a blessing, and I will cause the showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing [of good insured by God's favor], and the tree of the field shall yield its fruit and the earth shall yield its increase; and [My people] shall be secure in their land, and they shall be confident and know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them." Ezekiel 34:26-27

In this chapter of Ezekiel, God is speaking about the spiritual shepherds of Israel and their failure to properly care for God's "sheep" (meaning people). He then goes on to say how He will send forth a good shepherd, naming David in verse 24 who is symbolic of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

In verses 26 and 27 we read how the Lord is going to bless His people and the land around them and as He breaks the bars of the yoke of the enemy off of them there will be not doubt that that He is their Lord. Hallelujah!!! Upon first reading this I thought of this being prophetic of a time yet to come for most of us, myself included, havinh not yet seen the fullness of this word as the enemy still taunts us and most days it feels as if we have entered a battle field as we look around at the circumstances and situations that surround us. But the Holy Spirit refreshed my memory on how I have tasted the favor of the Lord and known how He has delivered me from for yoke of the enemy in one particular area.

For most of my life I have been afraid of heights and going over any type of bridge would set my heart to thumping and fear would rise up in me. Several years ago, when I was driving Billy to work there were two ways you could go, one being shorter than the other, I always chose the long route because the other one brought you onto a bridge ramp which I wanted to avoid at all costs! This bridge ramp terrified me! I even had a nightmare about it and woke up petrified to every have to face it. Funny thing is, one day I saw the need of a dear sister in Christ who had come to church and left her sick son at home. She wanted to honor God and that was her reason for coming to church but her heart was torn because she had left her sick son alone. We prayed about it and I asked her if she wanted me to take her home and she said yes. I went to go tell Billy and suddenly I realized that I was going to have to drive over that very bridge ramp that I dreaded! Lord, what had I done by offering to take her home? But there was no doubt in my heart that the Lord wanted me to bring her home and as we drove on and I began to approach that ramp, I began proclaiming God's Word, "God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind." "If God be for me, who can be against me?" "No weapon formed against me shall prosper." On and on I went proclaim His Truth and before I knew it, I was over that bridge. Gosh, I was so happy and it had been really fun to do!

From that day forward I would drive the route that brought us over the ramp to bring Billy to work. After I had done this for several days husband commented about how I was a real pro over than bridge now. And I told him how the Lord had delivered me of the fear that I had once had. That it wasn't the ramp that was a problem. The real culprit was fear! Now that the fear no longer had any hold on me in that situation that ramp was just like any other piece of road. Praise be to God!!!

Where did that freedom of fear come from? If came from our Lord, the Good Shepherd. He did break 'the bars of my yoke and has delived me out of the hand of those who made a slave [of fear] of them." The Lord is my Shepherd and I have no doubt of that. Hallelujah!

What fear are you facing today? The fear did not come from the Lord and He longs to bring you to His hill of blessing where you soar above the things of this world, holding fast onto Him and His promises, His deliverances whether it be from sin or from fear or anything that holds you back from walking side by side with Him. Pick up the Sword of the Spirit, be the conqueror and overcomer that you were meant to be through Him and taste the goodness that is Him abounding in your life. Amen and Amen.
