Shalom, Consider this first... Lk 7:33. For John the Baptist has come not eating bread and not drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34. The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold the man is a glutton and a wine bibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ PNT Then consider that we know that Y'SHUA went on a 40 day fast as He was led by YHVH to do. After a prolonged fast when one eats his body will hoard the food that it is given and rapidly add weight. Thus during the fast it is logical to assume that Y'SHUA lost in the neighborhood of 30-40 lbs. Afterwards He would have gained again but it would be purely speculation to guess how much but then we have the verses above to consider. We know that Y'SHUA was a friend of tax collectors and sinners so is it wrong to think that He was also overweight and either a drunk or at the very least was seen drinking allot? We cannot consider what Paul had to say on the subject of drinking or eating for they did not apply to Y'SHUA directly. That is to say, they were not written from the example Y'SHUA lived as far as we know and these verses might indicate. So what I guess I am asking is do we need to "possibly" reconsider the image we have of the man Y'SHUA? Was He actually a somewhat thin to fit person or was he possibly overweight? We then must also question how much He drank? Of course eventually this will all come down to pure speculation again but do we need to examine the possibility that the view we hold of Y'SHUA and The Scriptures may not really be as accurate as we think? 2 Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Just what do you think you are doing? Trying to blow my self imposed and cultural view of what Jesus would look like? Why now, do you not understand that he is a white, upper class, everybody's dreamboat, special kind of guy? On a more serious note, (I hope you knew I was picking on you), I believe that his jobs helped form his physical stature... a carpenter, and then a walker, going from town to town. And, we know what He looks like now: One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. Rev 1:14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; Rev 1:15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; or... does He? Might be more like: Luk 24:28 Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. Luk 24:29 But they constrained Him, saying, "Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay with them. Luk 24:30 Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Luk 24:31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. Luk 24:32 And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?" Anyway you look at Him.. He looks good. Thanks for the post. Have a blessed day! stace |

Shalom, I just want us to consider that what we hold as truth, fact or dogma may only be tradition or the doctrine of others which has been imposed upon us. These doctrines or traditions may be implied or inferred from The Scriptures but they may not be accurate. This is what my Jewish forefathers did to their people and I believe it is what has happened again since the time of Y'SHUA in much of CHRISTianity. I do not believe that anyone has done this to purposefully or deliberately deceive anyone else (for the most part) but according to what is the nature of sin-filled mankind. I believe this is why people like Martin Luther, Smith Wigglesworth, Madame Guyon and Watchman Nee have come over time. Being spread out as they have they have allowed the truth in The Word to come forth slowly and then to be gradually assimilated by Believers. An example of something along these lines is when I first came to the knowledge of The CHRIST I was attending a Baptist congregation and no one dared to raise their hands as they sang or worshiped. Now it is common place in almost all congregations. This example makes me wonder if other things we might "call" or consider to be a heresy or a person we might call a heretic will one day be acceptable, as possibly even mainstream. Mk 15:13. And again they were crying out, “You must crucify Him now!” When new ways of seeing The Scriptures are presented to us; when new ways of considering the basic tenants of faith are discussed; when new views or alternative views of The Scriptures, of Y'SHUA and of YHVH are presented will you (generally speaking) be found as a part of the crowd screaming "crucify him!" or will you pray and consider that this false teacher may actually be YHVH's Prophet? Jam 1:1:19. You know, my esteemed brothers: that every person must continually be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow in anger: |

Hey I believe you have made one of the most important statements of our time. A time for which we were chosen to be in. I believe a paradigm shift is happening, and world views must analyzed with great prayer and fasting. I have no doubt that there are things that are considered heresy now will be a 'greater and deeper understanding' later. Good points stace |

Interesting post. Funny Stace, as I was reading Semachiah's response to you I had things I was going to say in response to it, only to find out that you already did! Not only is there a paradigm shift taking place but I also believe that God's glory is drawing closer and closer to us. His Light is touching the earth in such a way that darkness is being exposed and Truth is abounding. Man's traditions are being seen for just that, traditions. Lord, please open our eyes that we might see all You have for us in this hour. God's Word does not return void and many of His childdren have been crying out to Him, declaring His Word and His promises, wanting His will above their own. How blessed we are to live in this time, to be called for "such a time as this." To God be the glory. |
