Have any of you watched this show? In the past week, I have watched the entire first season and then the entire prequel mini-season they did. It's a great show if you accept the copious amounts of gore and nudity. Eventually a competent plot forms and the show becomes really interesting. Highly recommend it. |

What Canadian channel is it on, or do you own the DVD? |

It's on Starz which to my knowledge is a channel you must pay for in a separate package. In this case, I have a DVD copy that I used to watch the series. |

I saw a few episodes of the prequel. My friends ended up getting ahead of me, so I missed quote a few of the episodes. I personally like the nudity and gore. It adds to the plot, which to me, appears to be mediocre. Those extra bits make it a great show. |

The nudity and gore in the prequel are actually done in many cases as more integral to the story. For example, if a gladiator receives a large injury, it has relevance to the plot further on in the story. Or in the case of the nudity, it's often meant to be the set piece of political maneuvers and conflict this time around. I highly recommend the prequel. It's more entertaining than the main series, likely in part because it's condensed into just 6 episodes and provides so much detail about the characters histories. |

I meant that I had seen the prequel episodes. I've only seen small segments of the actual series, which has me lost. Characters in the prequel, Gannicus for example, are lost in the series. I haven't seen him at all. |

Gannicus isn't in season 1 of the main series. He's a character that will be appearing in season 2 though and was introduced in the prequel. You'll need to watch the main series for the character elaboration to make sense though. |
