The first thing you have to know is that I'm a Nintendo junkie. With that in mind, you can sift your way through remixed Mario midis, Mario fanfictions, and (if I get a halfway decent scanner) Mario art. And know here's the beginnings of my terrible gallery. If you haven't really played many Nintendo games,it won't make much sense, but you can probably follow the basic plot. Inverted Spectrum The prow of the ship sliced through the chunks of ice and snow in the water like a knife through butter. The immense iron ship was a stain upon the tranquil arctic waters, spraying gouts of steam from the immense chimneys sprouting from its hull. Shouting Koopa sailors ran across the surface of the ship, clearing a space in the center. As ropes, tools, and large crates were shoved off to the edges of the massive aircraft carrier, a design slowly was revealed in the middle, the symbol of a monstrous, reptilian head, outlined in blinking neon lights. Kamek Koopa, the servant and advisor of the great King Bowser Koopa, waved his wand, sending a spark flying into the steam-clouded sky. As it reached the gouts of steam, it exploded, sending smaller sparks raining down across the waves. Kamek lowered his wand and turned to an armored Koopatrol waiting respectfully by his side. “Is the, eh, landing area cleared?” The Koopatrol nodded wordlessly. Kamek smiled in approval, his eyes concealed behind perfectly round, opaque glasses. “Good. My signal will alert the steam zeppelins. The royal family will be arriving at our ship soon, though I believe Lord Bowser himself will be, eh, remaining in his private steam zeppelin. Prepare for landing sequence!” A circle of sailors and Koopatrols surrounded the vast emblem, waving small neon sticks. There was a roar in the distance, and the royal fleet crested the horizon. The zeppelins were sleek and silver, with elegant, dark wood compartments hanging beneath them. The vast, reptilian emblem of Lord Bowser Koopa loomed out of the silvery fabric on their left side. Kamek raised a trembling yellow claw and pointed at each of the great zeppelins, muttering to himself. “One… two… three… seven ships. Where is Lord Bowser?” As if in answer, there was a bellow and a new cloud of steam rose to join the others. A glassy bulge rose from the ocean, sending waves crashing all around it. It slowly floated upwards, revealing itself to be a huge glass dome. Kamek caught his breath. “I can’t believe it. He did it! He actually did it!” The Magikoopa burst into a fit of wild jubilation, hugging the nearest sailor, who pulled away in surprise. Beneath the dome was a small city, built of black stone and metal, centered by the enormous bulk of Bowser’s Castle. The sailor who Kamek had hugged stumbled backwards, his mouth wide open in shock. He tumbled over the railing and off the side of the boat. Kamek, however, paid no mind to it, concentrating on the small steam airplane rising from the dome. It was fast, but whoever was steering it was doing a poor job—it veered back and forth haphazardly. Kamek focused on the silhouette of the driver, pulling off his glasses and briefly rubbing his aged eyes before replacing them. It was extremely large, with horns sprouting from its mop of red hair. Kamek broke into a wide smile, pulling his creaky figure into a bow. His robes piled around his feet. “Milord,” he said courteously, his voice cracking. The Magikoopa pulled himself straight again and smiled as the ship landed on the deck, scattering various sailors. King Bowser Koopa laboriously pulled himself from the slim canoe-shaped vessel, shaking his spiny head like a dog. “Great to see you too, Kamek,” the Koopa lord growled. “Now, tell me, what do you think of my masterpiece?” The Magikoopa smiled, the light catching his glasses and turning them into pools of light. “It’s beautiful. How did you make it?” King Bowser Koopa glanced away shiftily. “I had some help from… elsewhere. Now, Kamek, my family is landing. Help clear away the remaining soldiers.” With a clear sense that he was being dismissed, the Magikoopa turned away. A sudden thought struck him, and he cleared his throat. “Master, when do we begin preparations for the Mushroom Kingdom attack?” Bowser smiled. “Immediately.” Mario leaped up, smashing a fist into Luigi’s face. The two plumbers fell back away from each other, causing small puffs of dust to rise from the roof of Peach’s Castle. A gust of wind stirred up more dust as Mario conjured an orb of fire around his hand, pulling it back and hurling it at Luigi. The green-suited plumber was hurled backwards through the stained glass window, crashing out on the other side of the tower. Recovering quickly, Luigi flipped up above the tower and hammered Mario to the ground. Preparing to strike his brother’s face with his booted foot, Luigi was caught by surprise when Mario gripped his shoe and flung Luigi towards the edge of the castle. Mario finished his assault by flipping backwards and catching Luigi in the face with his gloved hands, sending the green plumber hurtling off the edge of the castle. The screen slowly faded to black. A small Mushroomer boy, holding a controller in his small, gloved hands, grinned at his companion, a Koopa child doing the same with a second controller. “Told you I could beat you,” he said, grinning. The Koopa scowled. “That just proves Mario is a better character than Luigi. I’m still better than you. I bet the Dried Shroom I found in your yard I can beat you if I use Bowser.” The pair grinned and clasped hands. And then there was a roar from outside, and a series of yelling voices. A loud crack resounded, and someone screamed. The pair froze, staring at each other in abject terror. And then the door swung open. The Koopa flinched, but the figure inside was his mother. The woman, clad in an apron and a white dress, lurched inside, panting heavily. A large, purple bruise marred her face. “Lem! Stra! Quickly! We have to get out of the house!” Lem, the Mushroomer boy, turned towards her. “What? Why? What happened? Who did this to you?” His mother bent down, leaning against the table. “There’s… no time to explain. Bowser’s army is here. We have to get to… Asgard…” At that moment, an explosion of steam erupted through the doorway. Stra’s mother dived out of the way, her shell askew. A tendril touched Stra on the hand and he drew back, his scaly palm red and scalded. A silhouette loomed against the steam and the occupants of the room leaned backwards in horror. A heavily armed Koopa walked into the room. He was covered in translucent plastic armor, its edges bubbling a little with their proximity to the steam. A huge cannon was strapped to his shoulder, a small trickle of steam floating out of the barrel. His eyes were covered with a red visor. After scanning the occupants of the room, the Koopa soldier waved into the steam, causing delicate patterns to twist and writhe in its depths. Several more soldiers entered, their heavy breathing filling the silent room. Frightened into silence, Lem, Stra, and Stra’s mother huddled in the corner. A very different figure strode in through the steam, its clouds parting before him as if in homage. The figure was at least half a foot shorter than the Koopa soldiers, and its pointed cap was slightly askew. But somehow, it gave off an air of menace. The figure completed its entrance, revealing itself to be a Koopa garbed in flowing blue robes. A baggy, pointed cap covered its head. A pair of glasses hid its eyes. The light glanced off them, turning them into twin stars. The tip of its pointed beak protruded from the shadows—otherwise, its entire face was hidden. To complete this exotic appearance, it held a golden wand. The Magikoopa’s feet thumped on the carpet ominously. “Well. A pair of children. I know naught why Lord Bowser would spare time from the takeover to kidnap a mere child, but I obey his will. He must have his reasons.” Stra’s mother stumbled back, her face white. “K-Kamek!? That’s impossible… how did you…” Kamek turned towards her. “I have risen in status quite a bit since I last saw you, Stella.” At those words, the Koopa levitated into the air and unearthly winds swept around the small chamber, carrying steam with them. Lem winced and leaped back as a gust of steam sliced through the air right next to him. “But that is water under the bridge,” the aged Magikoopa said, suddenly cheerful. He returned to his normal height, and the supernatural winds slowed their revolutions and finally came to a stop, the steam dissipating instantly. “Now, shall we begin?” Stra’s mother sat rigid on the floor, white-faced and tight-lipped. Kamek smirked. “Now, now Stella. I know you won’t allow me to simply take your child away from you.” Still she sat, beginning to quiver. Kamek rose his wand. “Oh, very well, Stella. I’ll begin.” A torrent of fire lit of the room, issuing from his wand like a snake from its hole. Kamek motioned to the Koopa soldiers, and they silently exited the room. As they exited, a smile slowly spread across Kamek’s creased face. His glasses glinted in the firelight. The whip of fire suddenly struck out, uncoiling and striking the spot where Stra’s mother had been. When it recoiled, only a pile of ashes was left. Stra cried out. “Mother!” Kamek chuckled, his frail body wracked with laughter. “Come on, Stella, a rivalry as old as ours can’t end this quickly,” the Magikoopa said. “You’re right. It can’t,” an alien voice said, echoing around them. Two thin black strands of hair wound around Kamek’s throat, slowly pressing down. Kamek choked and gasped, finally tearing free. “Very good, Stella! But you can’t beat me as easily as you did before.” Kamek reached into his pocket, pulling out a small clockwork Goomba. The aged Magikoopa placed the Goomba on the hair, which it scuttled across. A muffled gasp came from within the cloud of steam. Kamek strode inside, the mist parting before him. Stra’s mother lay on the ground, the clockwork Goomba’s small fangs sunken in her throat. She gasped and twitched, striving to pull it away from her. Kamek smiled. “Layed low by such a petty attack? You really have lost your edge.” “Sh-shut up!” Stra’s mother gasped. The steam around them condensed, forming a bubbling orb of liquid. The blob sped towards Kamek. Kamek muttered a few words, and the air around his hand began to shimmer and dance with heat. The Magikoopa reached out towards the scalding blob of water. As the water and Kamek’s hand collided, a flash of pure white light filled the room and when it cleared, Kamek was grabbing the blob of water, which was struggling to pull free. The aged sorcerer closed his hand, causing the blob to dissolve into a wisp of steam. “Get it now?” Kamek said, grinning. “I can match whatever you send at me. You are weaker than I am. And I am done playing!” A rod of vicious purple fire appeared in Kamek’s hands. The sorcerer spun it around and then lunged forwards. Stra’s mother rolled to the side and the floor next to her exploded in a great flash of fire and light. The staff flashed out of the debris, striking Stra’s mother on the side of the head. AHAHAHA I LEFT YOU AT A CLIFFHANGER |

Thanx. Most likely I won't ever finish it, though; most stories I write reach the midway point and no farther. |
