Work in progress, I'm actually doing this for a once upon a time class (which is detest!) But anyways, tell me what you guys think.

Book 1: Coping with Death

Chapter 1: The Headmistress and her Bickering

As the audience enters the seating, lights flicker onto the stage. A bunny walks out to the center and begins to speak with a loud and welcoming voice. “Welcome all to: The Great Theater of Times!” And as he finishes, the curtains roll open, and he walks off the stage.
“In the time of olden day” A voice echoes throughout the theater. “We’ll start with the tragic tale of one young girl, and the gruesome death of her parents” The stage grows darker, and a spotlight shone upon a small girl sitting upon her knees, sobbing to herself. As the spotlight widens in area, two doctors and an ambulance are brought into the picture, carrying a long white stretcher into the back of the car.
“Two more deaths…” one began. Then the other, “And this time, the parents of young Alice. They suffered the same injuries as the other 14 victims this week.” Alice begins to cry louder, as a strange lady, dressed in dark clothing, standing tall on her heels; walks up to her.
“Come Alice,” she says, reaching out for Alice’s hand, which refused the offer, “You get to come to the orphanage with all the other kids!” Her voice rang.
“NO!” Alice shouts, and the audience watching widen their eyes in surprise. Though the headmistress did not care what Alice did or thought, she holds Alice by the arm, and yanks her along, only making her cry even louder. Then, as they exit the stage, the ambulance drives off with the two doctors, and Alice’s unfortunate parents within.
As the curtains reopen to the new scene, the headmistress walks Alice in through the door of the orphanage. “Young Miss,” she begins. “This is your new home, and as a welcoming present for you… scrub the halls! Wash the stairs; clean the house from top to bottom! And don’t stop with that! Next, you’ll have to do my laundry! My cooking, and teach all the other orphanage kids how to read and write!” and finishes with a mean stare into Alice’s eyes.
Alice just looks up, “But Ma’am, I don’t know how to read or write either!” And with much spite the headmistress replies, “Well, then I suppose you must teach yourself first then? I won’t allow it until you do your part in the chores, and teach the other kids how first.”
“But…” Alice whimpered, the headmistress spoke out of turn “No buts! Didn’t your parents ever teach you how to be polite, don’t be selfish? Don’t interrupt others, and don’t talk back to an adult!” She adds. Then, when her speech finally ended, the headmistress, silently clops down the corridor ahead, and disappears around a corner, nose stuck high into the air as if she just smelt something awful.
Alice sits down; she was too upset to cry. She just sat there, and then in her head she devised a scheme that would rid her of all the evil in her life. Or so she thought… And the curtains close…

Chapter 2: Finding a Way in all that Darkness

As the next scene begins with a loud voice, shouting ”Alice!” it was just the thing to brighten the early day. The headmistress was walking left and right, in and out of every door in the orphanage with a frightened look on her face. “Alice!” She calls again, but still no reply. “Where could that troublemaker be?” She snarls to herself.
Other small children cluster around the lady with a strained face, still shouting at the top of her lungs, trying to find out what all the pandemonium was about. “It’s 11o’clock in the morning” She says to them, swatting her open palm in their faces, “Shouldn’t you still be in bed!”
“But…” One begins, “Oh please… Don’t walk around my orphanage with a big butt sticking out!” And she gives the child a firm but gentle slap. The audience’s faces grew ghastly white at the sight of such violence.
Then as the audience calms down, the child runs back to his room and slams the door. “Alice! I’m being serious! Stop playing games with me!” She yells, “I know you can hear me! – Come here this instant!” But Alice couldn’t hear her. Even if the headmistress yelled at the sound of a mega horn, she still wouldn’t hear; because Alice was out the door, and off to what she thought was freedom.
The entire theater shifts to the left, which another stage had just lit up, a scene with a few cars on the street, and the entrance to a small park on the other side. Alice was in this one, running and running. She was panting and panting, her little legs were growing tired. She was starting to regret her idea when something had caught her eye.
In the bushes, the bushes beside her, was… a monocle? “Who wears a one-eyed glasses nowadays?” She says to herself, and finds herself looking face to face with another rabbit. “Oh my!” She shouts in surprise, as the face of the other rabbit, white as snow, disappears into the brambles. It was saying something.
“Come back!” She gasps between breaths, but without success in luring the rabbit back out, she eventually crawled into the thick thorny vines herself. “Please?” She reaches her arms out at it.
The other rabbit gave no attention and ran down small gravel pathway. Alice groans, and decides she had to follow him to find out why he was doing things so.
Having small and short legs, she couldn’t run that well, much less with her dress on but she had determination. Until she got close enough to hear him mutter, “I’m late!”
“Excuse me! But why are you late?” She says, “Hi, bye, not time, must hurry! I’m late I’m late I’m late!” And he finishes with what great timing. His stopwatch clicks, and rings loudly. “The Queen will have my head…” He sighs, and continues to run.
Ahead is a small hole, with a cave-like entrance. It emerges from the ground and the rabbit jumps without any hesitation, right into it! Alice groans yet again and stops before it. “What now-!!!”
It was a butterfly, possibly the most dangerous creatures in our world of the living, with their beady eyes, and pushy demeanor. Alice fell, arms eagle spread as the butterfly tipped her into the deep and wondrous hole. Everyone turned their heads to watch as she entered a world of deep wonder… But the hole was dark!

Chapter 3: When Mushrooms Bite, and Butter Flies

Alice was falling, yet she hadn’t realized that she was until she looked down, into the seemingly bottomless pit the butterfly had made her enter. The white rabbit seemed to not be afraid at all, as he was down below her, a couple feet away. Diving headfirst into the darkness, the chasm which none knew, a crevice of great mystery.

To be continued…

Very interesting. A strange take on the Alice in WOnderland world but refreshing. A bit short for a true novel though...
