Summary: Facing problems when importing 4K video files into Sony Vegas Pro for further editing? This tutorial just aims to solve Vegas Pro won’t import/render 4K video clip issues.![]() I am really excited about the 4K camcorders to say the least. My concern is about 4K raw workflow in Vegas Pro. I haven't seen anyone's workflow using the 4K format like XAVC S. I would like to know what workflow is being used to achieve great results with these camcorders. In addition, what is needed for editing 4K video in Sony Vegas Pro? What I do realize is that I would need to step up to Vegas Pro 12 or 13 for starters. Just came across an awesome article explaining a lot in regards to workflow with 4K. I got know that Sony Vegas Pro 12 is the first native 4K XAVC editor. Sony Vegas Pro 12 and the latest version Vegas Pro 13 support a complete 4K workflow when you're working with 4K XAVC and XAVC S. Of course, working with 4K files can be taxing on your computer, especially if you don't have the most powerful machine to edit on. According to my tests it looks like Sony Vegas Pro 12/13 has to create a lower resolution proxy file to display in the NLE while you edit, so you have to wait for the proxy file to be created before you can edit any 4K footage; it will cost some time. If you are still running on an old computer with Vegas Pro 11/10/9 or got some 4K files that in Sony Vegas Pro incompatible format, by far the simplest solution to is to convert 4K video with Brorsoft Video Converter and then import to Sony Vegas Pro directly. This video converter perfectly works as the 4K to Vegas Pro Converter that helps you convert XAVC, XAVC S or any other 4K files to MPEG-2, which is the best format for Vegas to edit with ease. No expensive add-ons or plug-ins are required. With it, you may also transcode 4K video to Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, Windows Movie Maker, Pinnacle Studio and more NLE programs highly compatible formats for editing. 1. Download, install and run the 4K Video to Vegas Pro Converter; click "Add Videos" icon to load your source 4K files. ![]() 2. Click on the Format box to get the dropdown menu. Select Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas --> MPEG-2 (*.mpg) for editing 4K clips in Vegas with natively supported video codec. ![]() 3. Click "Settings" button if you’d like to customize advanced audio and video parameters like Video Codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, Audio codec, sample rate, audio channels. ![]() 4. Hit the convert button, it will start encoding 4K footage for importing to Vegas Pro immediately. Soon after the conversion, just click “Open” button to get the generated files for natively editing in Sony Vegas Pro without hassle. Additional Tips: There are many threads talking about 4K rendering in Sony Vegas Pro. Actually, in Sony Vegas Pro you can render your project back out to the XAVC or XAVC S format to preserve your 4K work. To do so, click the Render As button. Click the Sony XAVC / XAVC S Expand arrow and then select your desired template from the list. You can deliver your project in either XAVC or XAVC S at 4K, XAVC at 2K, or XAVC and XAVC S in HD quality.
