Well, just a riddle thread. I hope to see some tricky ones.

Rules
The one who answers correctly has to ask the next riddle.
Well, the use of the Internet is forbidden, use your brains... although no one can control that. >.>

Let's start with an easy one:

There is a room. In the room is a basket with 6 apples inside. The room has one exit. There are 6 girls in the room. Each girl leaves the room with an apple. How come that one apple is still in the basket?

He is the start and end of the words. So connect a painful word to do with love that starts and ends in 'he' and a painful, everyday thing that starts and ends with the same. It's not that hard, really [my mother answered it for me xD].
I'm not going to answer, 'cause I don't want to google myself a riddle.

For an English native it probably shouldn't... If I had some pure word file dictionary in English, than this would be no problem...

I just guess the second word: Headache

Coin in each cup, then first cup in the second, and the second cup in the third. Or something. And then you have 3 cups, with different amounts of coins in. I just assume the cups are different sizes.

@tox well, I meant it would be nice if you wouldn't use the Internet at all for this, but if you really can't think of any you are allowed to search for one, but not for solving!!!

woah... i was watching spongebob and randomly said that.... woah.... :D

Okay, so you are stuck in a room with no windows no doors or anything. it is made of pure unbreakable titanium so you can dig your way out or climb anywhere.
All you ahve in the room is an apple and a saw. How do you get your way out?

So, this is the only riddle i know from heart :P my friend told it to me a long time ago :P

tox, doesn't it have to be "can't dig your way out...." ?

Just guessing: Use the saw to scratch the Titanium and destroying it letting it rust through the citrusacid(or however it's called) within the apple?

i think it's a word riddle... like the one with a room with no doors or windows and just a mirror and a table...

so... saw the apple in half, two halves make a hole, crawl through the hole and you're out?

Man if that is actually the answer that's stupid. That's a horrible riddle. What if I am actually stuck in a room with only a saw and an apple? It's a very impractical answer.

I'm pretty sure it's right. It's a popular riddle. The original one includes a mirror and a table. You look in the mirror, see what you saw, take the saw and cut the table in two, two halves make a whole, and you crawl out of the hole.

Yup, it's right. Hmm...here's a logic-y one:

There's a cylindrical bucket partially filled with water. Using nothing else, how can you tell whether it's half full, more than half full, or less than half full?

I see two choices.

1. In germany as good as every bucket has a Liter scale. Just look where it is...

2.Centrifugal force: When its more then half full it should come gushing out I think, but I never tried.

Every bucket? 0_0 You don't have those simple metal buckets?

Centrifugal force...but what if it doesn't gush out? Would you be able to tell whether it's half full or less than half full?

Another way would be to drink it.

Before you do it you take some other water and spit it out again. While you measure how much it is. So as you are drinking you always take a full mouth and add up how much you used. Then you know how much liter were in it and as anybody knows how much water normally fits into a bucket you calculate if it's half full or less.

You can't forbid to use your mind.

Well, since you don't have anything else it's difficult. you can't weight it, calculating the volume probably won't change anything and tet, you can't tell if the difference is just 1ml less or more then half of it.

Assuming the bucket fits 10l, 5l is the half of that. but there are 4999ml in it. I highly doubt you'll notice that by using your mouth. If you could do that you could just calculate the amount.

You can't do it by weight, since the bucket also weights something, and because of the unknown volume of the bucket and it's density you can't add / subtract a value.

If you knew the MAX_VOLUME of the bucket, you could add something non-soluble into the bucket until the water runs out of it (oh and it's density must be higher then waters, so it doesn't float). You add up the volume you used by through that something into the water. Then you calculate (MAX_VOLUME - Volume_of_the_stuff) / MAX_VOLUME, which is the volume of water in %. if its 0.5, congrats it was exactly the half, if less, it was less then the half if more, then it was more then the half. But we can't do that either can we?

And can someone explain me the centrifugal force thing? If you add more force, it'll eventually gush out.

You couldn't do what you said... there is the "Using nothing else" sentence.

I made up the thing with the centrifugal force. But it's just a theory. Haven't tried it yet. Could be interesting. Also you could get the wight of it through it, but you would have to calculate the centrifugal force you can create yourself first and the test with different water volumes when it gushes out...
