Black and white aren't really colors, but yeah I agree. Previously I liked white the most (for cloth), but now black as well.

I will just change the topic name. If possible.

Whether they are colors or not doesn't matter, the physical abilities are important! And I don't really believe that they aren't colors... I think that definition is old.

Some argue that black is all colors and white is none, but somehow that's off too I think. Although if we use RGB with 1 byte values each we get 2^24 different colors... those are "just" ~16 million colors, however I think colors are like the real numbers. between two different objects (or even part of the same object with a difference in position of space of less than 1*10^-100 ) is always different. The difference is just tat subtle, that we don't notice it.

(I think I kinda missed the point...)

At any rate, as far as light is concerned black and white are colors. Total black absorbs light while total white reflects light. Any other color between those two just reflects / absorbs more or less (depending on the point of view).

And Tet, it's not that I particularly like it, it's just that I think it's more useful... And because I hate those new clothes with emblems and whatever printed on them. Would make me feel like some idiots of those idiots on the street that make others listen to their "favorite" (in my ears idiotic) "music" (depending on the point of view again) with their mobile phones and don't realize that it's annoying, like on buses.

actually, you could associate them with every color, theoretically, because black reflects all color and is therefore colorless and white absorbs all visible color and is therefore every color... unless it's reflecting a specific color that humans are unable to see.

that is very true also if you are according to printer color all the colors is black and if it's light all the colors together makes white... freaky eh?

Err... Like i said, that's the "informatics" definition. RGB with 2⁸ makes 2²⁴ different colors.

Let's try it with a different theory:

Let's assume we all know the color red. However everyone of us perceives the color differently. Let's say I see red as red, while someone else perceives the color red under my definition of blue. They just associate the name with another color, due to their perception. (I know a crazy theory)

Besides, that is a definition problem. People group things together. Something with (usually) four legs, (usually) made of wood with the function of letting something be placed on it, is a table. Same for colors. A color is a generalized form of something that describes one perceptible attribute of a thing.

So we group attributes of colors together, which would mean "reflects light" and "absorbs light". Every color has a coefficient for those two "attributes". But since (total) white only reflects, while (total) black only absorbs, every color could be defined as part of white / black. Likewise I could say:
Those colors with a reflect light coefficient of total white are white (which should only be white), respectively for the black color.

Correct me if I' wrong, and I'll stop here... Who knows what else I'll start talking about when I start with such discussions >.>

i like your theories sometimes... like, it would be fun to have a person like you in my classes at school. but i already have at least 1 in every class (not including myself) so that might be overkill... but you would get along with zeikel, i think. do you like german and golf?

I'm german, so I can't really dislike it... As for the golf part, I guess I wouldn't dislike it, although I've never played it myself, since I think it's a more slow paced sport.

As for your classmate: It's fun to talk to people who are equally crazy as you are, because the ranting could get into any given subject and would still be hilarious. Especially if you group such people together.

I guess a girls gathering somewhere, apparently bringing their stuffed animals, and drinking tea? Usually the group consists of (close) friends, who'll chat while drinking tea. I think pastries are involved as well. :D

At any rate, wearing a tie and a sweater to a tea party and bringing of stuffed animals? Bizarre, but yes, definitely epic.

thank you kys. it was epic. and the fact that we pulled it off in a highschool cafeteria and weren't late to class even after the clean-up? even more epic.

and this tea party consisted of tea (*coughapplejuicecough*), sandwiches (nutella or pb&j), cookies (mostly oreos and girl scout cookies, but also some fancier ones that i provided), stuffed animals (a teddy bear, a dog, and an argyle sock monkey), necklaces and rings (cheap plastic kind), a pink table cloth, disposable silverware and fancy plates (also relatively cheap plastic), paper doilies, and tiny ceramic cups, saucers, and tea pots. and NO BOYS ALLOWED. Especially if they weren't wearing ties. :D

Seems like a fun meeting, however your choices are quite... bizarre as well. :D

But,... I wouldn't be allowed to attend anyways, therefore:

Where is the gender equality! That's discrimination! xD

Hmm, I haven't been to one in ages... or perhaps I've just grown up and don't play as much video games as I used to.

At any rate, I would need new hardware for the new games, so I can't... Damn this capitalistic environment.

girls are allowed at LAN parties... or at least curious younger sisters bearing gifts of oreos. but since you're both guys, i guess you don't remember the days in elementary school when girls would get together with their stuffed animals and play dress-up while pretending to have tea. but you have to remember the cooties phase.

err... elaborate...

I don't remember that stuffed animal pretending from my younger sister. And I don't know what cooties phase means/is.

At any rate, I think that kind of thinking is obsolete. Boys and girls don't have roles anymore as they used to, but there's still gender inequality, based on those old norms.

Cooties... I've always wondered about that word.

I think we'll always have gender equality, we just learn not to mention it or we get blinder to it.

Haha, cooties, never had that in my area. Probably didn't spread far enough. :)
And seriously, I've got SEVERAL female friends here who play LAN, and we're all about 20...
So hey. It's not that bad~

Just saying... I've been to a "tea-party" before, and to describe it to other guys, its just a gathering at someone's place to chat and chill. Well, a get-together with old friends... Well, I go for all types of gatherings... So in guy terms, I guess a tea-party can be compared to a nights out with the guys. :)

well, for a couple years girls tend to play mostly with girls because guys are "icky", meaning they aren't girls. you may have heard the rhyme "Circle circle, dot dot, now i've got my cootie shot". this is a pretend innoculation to save you from "boy germs". Cooties are actually a term used for lice, an insect that nests in people's hair and makes them feel itchy.

a tea party would be a bit like a get-together. i'm pretty sure "tea parties" of the variety i am talking about can be found on youtube relatively easily. it was also a theme in a few commercials i recall over the past few years.

Stereotyping is bad, apop. it was, in fact, I who had the tea party. not our resident brit. and there was, in fact, no tea at the tea party... :(

so... boy-girl stuff... they are obviously very different, although driven by the same basic needs (food, water, shelter, reproduction, etc.). my question is, how does one write plausibly from the view point of a guy whom they haven't talked to in 7 years? i'm writing a personal fantasy-fic and i'm stuck. :(

It's always like that with close-knit groups though. That kind of stuff happens at work all the time, it just makes the most mundane things a little more bearable.

Really? I never pay much attention to people's relationship status, it's just a random thing that I never need to know. This is my first time changing that part of my profile in 2 years, there comes a time when you decide it needs to say something more than 'Single'. Or just being blank. Just a bit of fun between friends.
