Sabanga: Origin of the name

"Folklore has it that there was once a woman named Bangan who had a garden full of ripe banana trees surrounding her house in Pongadan. One day, a stranger wearing a white robe and long beard arrived in Pongadan. When the stranger saw Bangan, he asked for the name of the village. Not understanding what the stranger was saying, the maiden replied, "Saba nan bangan bangan banana." The stranger said that it was too long a name and shortened it to Sabangan. Later, the people of Pongadan then changed the name to Sabangan."

Always consider yourself a crayon. You might not be someone's favorite color, but one day, they're going to need you to complete their picture.
