Barlig Dialect: Common Terms

About TIME and LOCATION:

Where?- Aychud?
What?- Ngachana?
When?-As?, Kaatna?, Kaanu?,
Who?- Ngachana, What is your name- Ngachan mo?
How?- Atuna? Kas-anu?, Enkamana?
Where are you going?- Ay-ayam?
When did you come?- Kaatnay enmaliyam?
How much is this?- Kaatna na?
What is the time?- Ngachanay uras?


Here- Asna, Hena
There-Aschi, Hid-i
Now- Adwani
Today- Adwani ay urkiw
Tomorrow- As wiet
The next day- As sang-achum
Yesterday- Ad kugkia.


Down- As baba, as Kuwab na
Up- As ngato, As lamag na
Right- As kannawan
Behind- As likud, As uchog
Go up- Tumikid, Ngomato
Go down- Bumaba, Kumwab



EATING Conversation:

Let us eat- mangan taku
Have you eaten?- nangan ka?
Have you finished eating?- narpas ka at ay nangan?
I have finished eating- narpas ak at ay nangan
Note: you-ka; I- ak

Where did you eat?- nanganam? Aychud num nanganan?
What did you eat?- ngachanay kenan mu?
Note: eat-mangan; eaten- nangan; what was eaten- kenan; you-mu;
Referring to the person being questioned- “nam”, “num”
