We dream... of a community where every player, regardless of his skill or background, can find a game that suits him. of a community where every writer can learn and grow, thanks to the support of friends and strangers alike. of a community where every member belongs. We dream of a community. Do you share our dream? Rules General

Concerning Staff This is simply a note concerning staff and how they should be treated at this board. It has come to our attention through past experience that administrators and staff (though especially administrators!) are often treated as though they are higher than their members, of more importance, and all the like -- many would even say they are intimidating! Here at Ink, we would like to see precisely none of that. Staff are members, too, even the admins! The only thing that sets us apart are our responsibilities. Those responsibilities include making the board look pretty, screening content to make sure it's appropriate, keeping our members updated with all changes around the board, setting up contests for the community... Those responsibilities don't hold us any more liable than the average user to participate in threads that don't interest us, or to continue a thread that we don't have muse for. We are not held responsible for reviewing pieces of work in the critique boards. If you would not hold a nameless member accountable, don't do it to us! We have our differing interests, and our positions do not compromise the ways we wish to contribute to the community itself. But we'd like the opportunity to be a part of the member community without striking fear into our loyal subjects. We'd even like an opportunity to be a part of the contests, just as everybody else is, as well as win or lose fair and square! That being said, never, never! be afraid to upset us. If you would say it to another member, you can say it to us. In regards to disputes, punishments and the sort, know this -- if you ever have a dispute with a staff member, the issue will not be handled by that staff member! That means if you tell off a staff member, the matter will be treated by another staff, just as though it'd happened to a member. Don't mistake this for encouragement to break the rules. Whether you're rude to a staff member or a regular user, your punishment will be exactly the same. But we would just like you to be transparent with us, and be realistic in your expectations from us. We're not gods -- we're human, too! Board Navigation This is a thorough guide to the different categories and forums on this board... Just in case you were confused.
The Reference Section The Manual is where you are now! Here you will find all the basic information you need to understand the site, including the rules. Only staff can make posts in this forum, as it is not for discussion. Help & Suggestions offers members and guests alike a chance to ask questions about the board, or offer up some ideas about adding new features (or trashing old ones.) Recognition Member Portfolios gives members a place to keep all their topics organized for personal reasons, or simply to show off to their friends. A member portfolio is to be treated like a personal file. You can talk about yourself a little bit if you want, but you'll mostly be linking to all the other works and topics that you're a part of. Each member can only have one portfolio, and only that member can post in their own topic! RolePlay Individual Ads is the forum where you may post your own little "about me" topic, describing what sort of genres you like to play, whether you prefer one on ones or group games, and other information pertaining to you, as a RolePlayer. Players looking to find someone to have a one on one with, or recruit to a game, can look in this forum to find an ad that fits. Bottom line? These ads are about individual players. Recruit Station is where basic information about specific games are posted. If you want to start up a game, you would post in here the general information about your game, including the plot, setting, and basis of the characters (if necessary). Other players can then come to this forum and reply to topics for games that they wish to be a part of. Application processes are permitted. Plot Discussion is for games that have already gathered recruits. Discussions about one on ones can be placed in here, as well. These topics are generally just places for the players to talk about what's happening next, and croon about how adorable that couple of characters is. Let's Play! That's right, you guessed it. This is where the actual in character threads will occur. Don't make any out of character posts in this forum -- they may be deleted. All OOC posts happen in Plot Discussion, while all IC posts happen in Let's Play! Make sense? On RolePlay is for all other discussions concerning RolePlay. Maybe you have a faint idea for a plot, and you want to know what others think. Or, you're having trouble creating a character. It doesn't matter whether it's about RolePlays here, on another board, or in your head (so long as you don't post links): ANYTHING concerning RPGs can be discussed here. Creative Writing The Gallery is where all finished (or semi-finished) writings go on display for other members to view. This is not the place to ask for a review. Topics in this forum cannot be viewed by guests. Reviews is where you can post a piece for comments from other members. If you would like your piece to be reviewed, it is recommended that you make a habit of reviewing other pieces as well. You gotta give a little to get something in return! Topics in this forum cannot be viewed by guests. Background Check is a forum specifically for stashing your developmental documents, such as pieces on characters, settings, and more. These topics are more than likely just background information that only the author needs to understand their own writing or RolePlaying, but it certainly still doesn't hurt to share with the rest of the board! Topics in this forum cannot be reviewed by guests. On Writing is for any discussion that pertains to writing. You can discuss anything ranging from how to use your adjectives to publishing a novel! Converse to your heart's content, so long as it has something to do with writing. Chicken Scratch I Say Hello! is where all introductions are made, and new members are welcomed. Please refrain from posting spam or pointless messages -- if you're going to make the attempt to introduce yourself or welcome another member, be conversational about it. Say more than just "Hi! We've got smilies!" If you don't, your posts will be deleted. Not Here! is for all members who will be taking a leave of absence from the site. It's considerate to let us know when you'll be gone for a while. Feel welcome to bid your friends farewell! But keep in mind, if you're leaving on less than amazing terms, please don't post an inflammatory message, or it will be deleted. Be tactful. Chatter Box is for discussions about everything that doesn't involve writing or RolePlaying. Get to know on another! |
