Sevilla president José María Del Nido has hit out at Daniel Alves after the Brazilian refused to travel to Greece for the game against AEK. The spat between the duo has arisen after the Spanish side turned down a mega offer from Chelsea for Alves and the player believes that a promise has been broken. Del Nido is ignoring these claims and has labelled Alves as unprofessional after he was named in the squad for the Champions League qualifier and the European Super Cup, but refused to go. "The player has refused to travel with the club that pays him and I have said this publicly so that everyone will know the type of professional we are dealing with," the Sevilla supremo said. "It shows a lack of professionalism and respect for the club that pays him and to his team-mates and now that he has refused to make this journey I am not going to talk any more about it. "I do not want to focus all the attention on a character like this when everyone's thoughts should be with (Antonio) Puerta." Alves has been training alone and was ruled out of the opening league game of the season with an injury, but coach Juande Ramos named him in the squad for the European trip. After being refused a move to Chelsea, the 24-year-old has hit out at the club, stating that he had an agreement that he could leave if a huge offer was made. The Blues are said to have made an offer of €36m which Alves believes met the required amount, while Del Nido wanted at least €40m. If Alves were to appear against AEK in midweek then he would be cup-tied in the competition should he eventually push through a move to another club before the end of the current transfer window. |

How? I thought he'd just signed a 4-year deal with Sevilla, which is one of the reasons they're trying to hold you to ransom over him? From what I read, his agent (who'll have taken a sizeable wedge of cash when he signed a long-term contract) is the one who's happily been touting him around despite this... |

Not over yet? Maybe Liverpool will buy him ...............that'd be COOOOOL Wantaway defender and Chelsea target Daniel Alves has not joined up with his Sevilla team-mates for their trip to Greece for Tuesday`s Champions League clash with AEK Athens, according to club president Jose Maria Del Nido. Alves, who on Friday hit out at Del Nido after failing to secure a big-money move away from the Andalusian club this summer, was on Sunday named in a 24-man squad for the third qualifying round second leg clash in Athens. However, Del Nido said the Brazilian full-back was not among the travelling party which left Spain for the Greek capital on Monday morning. "Daniel Alves, in a total lack of respect to his team-mates and the club, has refused to travel with the club that pays him. The public will now know the professionalism of the aforementioned player," Del Nido said. Real Madrid and Chelsea were the clubs thought to be leading the chase for Alves` services this summer, but no team was able to meet Sevilla`s valuation of the player, which Spanish press is reporting to be around 42million euros (£28million). The 24-year-old Alves missed the first leg of the Champions League tie with AEK, which Sevilla won 2-0, and was also absent from Saturday`s 4-1 victory over Getafe on the opening day of the Primera Liga season. |
