Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien is struggling to be fit for Wednesday's premiership game against Reading. The midfielder was forced to leave the field in Chelsea's 3-2 victory over premiership new boys Birmingham City on Saturday. "It was something in the knee ligament," manager Jose Mourinho said. "He was in pain, I had two midfielders on the bench so I made the change immediately. "If you asked me, I don't know if he'd be fit for Wednesday against Reading." |

I think it’s defo he’ll not play against Reading as there is no point in risking it. We’ve got more than enough cover to get past them with out him so lets make sure he’s given every opportunity to be fit for the big one on Sunday when I think we’ll miss him if he’s not ready. |

Jose Mourinho has spoken of his relief at the easing of a congested Stamford Bridge treatment room. Chelsea kicked-off their Premier League campaign at the weekend against Birmingham without several of their top names, but it now looks as though a number could return before too long. For Wednesday's trip to Reading, Mourinho still has somewhat limited options, but with the likes of Claude Makelele, Andrei Shevchenko and John Terry all having stepped-up their respective rehabilitations, the Portuguese could soon be ready to pick his ideal starting eleven. Improvement "The situation is the same we had last weekend," Mourinho told Sky Sports News. "I have to make a decision about (Michael) Essien, maybe yes, maybe no. "After that the picture is the same. Paulo (Ferreira) is back so that is one more option, and for the weekend a lot of people will be back. "Makelele is training normal, Sheva is training normal and John Terry will start training normal tomorrow (Wednesday)." Ballack and Bridge The only longer term injury concerns Mourinho still has to contend with are Michael Bridge and Michael Ballack. "So for the weekend I think it is only Bridge and Ballack (out) because they come from surgeries. "After that it will be fine if we don't have problems tomorrow." |

Jose Mourinho had some mixed news on the injury front, with John Terry’s likely return against Liverpool on Sunday offset by the loss of Ricardo Carvalho. Chelsea dug deep to claim a 2-1 win over Reading on Wednesday night, but the victory was marred by an injury to Portuguese defender Carvalho. Carvalho limped off in the first half at The Madejski Stadium and Mourinho feels the key defender could be sidelined for some time. However, Terry returned to training on Wednesday and is expected to be thrust into the heat of battle against Liverpool. "I think I am going to be without Ricardo for a while but John Terry is back,” said Mourinho. "I lose one central defender but I win another one. John was back in training today with no limitations. He trained for one-and-a-half hours with the reserves in a very competitive situation. "He could have played tonight but I wanted to protect him. He is ready for the next game so Steve McClaren can drink some champagne tonight after that information." |

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has allayed fears over John Terry's fitness by claiming his skipper will be back to face Liverpool in Sunday's Premier League showdown at Anfield. The Blues and England captain returned to full training on Wednesday following a knee injury and will provide Mourinho with a timely boost after fellow central defender Ricardo Carvalho picked up an injury during Wednesday's win at Reading. Carvalho limped off during the first half of the 2-1 victory at the Madejski Stadium and is expected to be out for some time. Terry will partner summer signing Tal Ben Haim when he makes his first competitive appearance of the new season at the weekend. "I think I am going to be without Ricardo for a while but John Terry is back," revealed the Portuguese coach after Chelsea's second win of the fledgling campaign. ..................................... :blue scarf: :blue scarf: :blue scarf: |

I feel like I'm home on here. Btw, how's the terry dude fit for this game? Isn't he supposed to be injured? Cech looks shaky too, and I fancy us scoring a couple tomorrow. :redscarf: |
