Wigan Athletic are a step closer to signing West Brom left-back Paul Robinson after Baggies manager Tony Mowbray admitted he wouldn't stop any player leaving the Hawthorns. Robinson looks set to be the latest Albion star to leave after Wigan had a bid accepted for the left-back. Robinson was missing from the Albion squad which won 2-0 at Hereford on Friday evening and he is also expected to be excused duty for Tuesday's trip to friendly opponents Bristol Rovers. And Mowbray said: "I want players here who are committed to moving the club forward. "And we have already this summer sold three players who made it clear they wanted to leave." |

Wigan are considering a renewed bid for Albion defender Paul Robinson as Leighton Baines edges closer towards his Everton move. Baines is set to join the Toffees for an initial fee of £5million, leaving Wigan short of a left-back. The Latics tried to sign Robinson last week only for problems to arise during his medical, forcing the deal to be shelved. Wigan are refusing to completely draw a line under the Robinson deal mindful that they still need a left-back. Likewise Robinson is keen to make the move to the JJB Stadium. But both clubs will need to come back around the negotiating table as Wigan want to completely restructure the deal. |
