Robben: Real transfer draws ever closerBlues agree Real deal over Robben
Holland winger Arjen Robben is set to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid after the two clubs finally agreed a reported £18million deal.

The two clubs have reached an agreement subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

A Chelsea statement on Wednesday night read: "Chelsea Football Club and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Arjen Robben subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical."

Real also confirmed the deal for Robben in a statement on their website, which read: "Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of Arjen Robben, who will become part of the Madrid club for the next five seasons.

"The agreement is pending the player's medical and the signing of the contracts."

Basically, as per usual, it just goes to show the press doesn’t really know what’s what. There is only one price and we’ve seen about a half dozen different numbers banded about. Let’s just say it’s £20m+ :bounce:

Bruce happy to make Robben buck
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck praised chief executive Peter Kenyon for striking "a very good deal" with Real Madrid for the sale of Arjen Robben.

The Dutch winger has looked likely to move to Real Madrid all summer and a fee of more than £20million was finally agreed on Wednesday.

While Buck was dismayed to see Robben leave, he believes it represents good business.

"From a fan's perspective I am a little bit unhappy about that because Robben is a very good player and he's done some good things for Chelsea Football Club," the American told LBC News 1152.

"But for reasons that you will have to ask him, he wanted to move on.

"We really didn't want that to happen but in football sometimes you have to do certain things and I think Peter struck a very good deal with Real Madrid.

"We've pretty much doubled our money, which is good football business.

"So we're sorry to see him go, we've made a good deal and we wish him well."

Considering wingers have been the mid teens millions price range (Babel, Nani and Malouda all £13m - £17m) getting anything £20m+ is a good deal for Chelsea

Nani was only £7million up front

Robben has proved himself at the top level and Chelsea prob would have got alot more if he wasnt so intend on leaving. Iam sure he will perform better at real then Chelsea as he will be happier with less tracking back to do

And Football is the game.
Sad to see him leave, but at least now we´ll not have to spend the better half of the season wondering if he´ll be fit to play next week.

Laters Arjen,
