There is plenty of speculation that Chelsea want to replace Arjen Robben with Brazilian ace Ronaldinho - but with the transfer window almost closed there seems to be little value in the odds being offered that he will join Chelsea by the weekend. So William Hill are extending their window to offering odds that Ronaldinho will become a Chelsea player in the next year - and at 11/4 the odds seem decent value.

Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe today commented:

'Chelsea's record with high profile superstar-type signings like Schevchenko, Ballack, and Crespo have not proved over successful, so one wonders whether this potential move is at the behest of Abramovich or Mourinho, and, if the former, perhaps it could spark another cold war between manager and owner'

When Roman Abramovich decides he wants something - whether it is removing a noisy bowling alley from his house or signing The Ukraine's greatest footballer - he usually gets it. And if it is simply a question of money (without the false restriction of a few days to negotiate) I wouldn't bet against Ronaldinho joining the Pensioners.
