BIG-MATCH FACTS

Chelsea are seeking their 1,500th league win.

The former champions are on the longest current unbeaten run in the Premier League of 18 matches.

Aston Villa warmed up for this clash with the former champions by thrashing Wrexham 0-5 in the Carling Cup at the Racecourse Ground on Tuesday night.

The Blues are looking for a 50th competitive victory over Villa.

Villa are aiming to extend their undefeated home Premiership sequence against Chelsea to nine games. They've not lost a home League game to the Londoners since March 1999 (two wins, six draws).

Sky Sports are reporting that Lampard is almost certain to miss the game against Villa after picking up a thigh injury in training today.

He was taken to hospital for it to be tested and is also a doubt for England's Euro 2008 qualifiers, which means McClaren could be without Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham.
