"Stalled talks claims
Last Updated: Wed, 12 Sep 2007 10:13

Reports suggest Peter Crouch is stalling over possible contract talks at Anfield because of a lack of first-team action this season.

The England international has seen his chances limited this season and is so far yet to start a Premier League game, twice being left-out of the matchday squad for league matches.

Crouch does have two years left to run on his current contract, but there has been mounting speculation over his future following the summer arrivals of Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin.

Rafa Benitez insists that the former Southampton frontman does remain part of his plans, but there are suggestions that Crouch wants more first-team action to prove that."

Hmmmmmm....just a rumour as these things are and I trust in El Crouchinho to know that he'll get his fair share of agmes this season but you do have to wonder how long he's gonna put up with being (imo) 4 choice.

Hang em first. Question em later.
He'll have made his mind up by January though. It will be clear to see then if he is a real part of Rafa's plans or not.

I'd like to see Him stay, but if He wants to play as a striker then He must improve His heading ability. How often can a tall(very tall)man consistantly get under the ball.?????

God what a finicky bunch you are.

Crouch takes a few games to get into a scoring vein. If he's only going to be playing in one or two game bursts he's never likely to show his best. If that's the case then it's best he goes now. It's unlikely he'll have a shot at anything like the success he could have with us, but I suppose winning a medal where you feel you've not contributed enough to really deserve it can actually be a bit of a downer.

I'm sick and tired of people criticising his heading ability when other players have missed with their head just as blatantly.

Here's a lad who has gone from being in a position where his manager stood by him for 19 fecking games without him scoring, to a player who gets dropped the game after banging in a hat trick against Arsenal. Now I'm all for a player being 100% committed to his club and if a player starts to moan they should be given a sharp reminder of what they're doing there, but to jump on him and nitpick his ability at the first REPORTED sign of dissent is a bit much imo. He's a good player trying to compete against great players, and that's not an easy task.

(Cue arguments about he's being paid well enough, club loyalty etc etc...)

"Crouch happy at Liverpool
Striker insists he is committed to Reds
By Lewis Rutledge Last updated: 17th September 2007

Peter Crouch has insisted he is ready to fight for his place at Liverpool.

The striker was included in the starting line-up for Liverpool's clash with Portsmouth on Saturday, but had few chances to make an impact and was withdrawn with 30 minutes to go.

He is aware there is fierce competition for places up front, with Fernando Torres and Andrei Voronin beginning their Anfield careers brightly and Dirk Kuyt also at the club.

But the England international is determined to show Rafa Benitez that he deserves to be a permanent fixture in the side.

"It has been frustrating," he said in The Sun. "Every footballer wants to play and the manager has told me it's not possible to be involved in every game.

"We have four strikers and the manager says if he feels one player will cause more problems than another in a specific game, he will pick him.

"But obviously Fernando Torres is more likely to play than the rest of us after the club paid so much money for him.

"Fernando has settled in straight away and proved what a top striker he is. Now it's up to me to do the same when I get my chance."

Crouch admits he has found Benitez's rotation policy difficult to adjust to, but maintains that he has no plans to leave Liverpool.

"I have had to change my way of thinking since I joined Liverpool," he explained.

"You have to expect rotation. It can be frustrating at times but I fully understand the manager's thinking and, if called upon, I must make sure I'm ready.

"I might not be playing every week but I'll still get a good amount of games, so I'm happy at Liverpool.

"We're going to be challenging for the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carling Cup and I want to be a part of that."

He wants to stay and fight for his place?
HOW DARE HE!!!!!
STICK HIM IN THE RESERVES!!!!!!
NO LOYALTY ALLOWED HERE!!!!!!!

Anyhoo.....wouldn't be surprized to see El Crouchinho play some part tomorrow...hell,reckon he might even start.

Rafa's allowed 18 players in the CL so there's always space on the bench for an extra striker. I expect Kuyt and Torres to start.
