"Liverpool No 2 sent on gardening leave after row with Rafa Last updated at 17:14pm on 12th September 2007 Liverpool No 2 Pako Ayesteran has been sent on gardening leave after falling out with manager Rafa Benitez. The two Spaniards were close friends for 11 years and had a highly successful working relationship with Valencia and at Anfield until a disagreement over training methods earlier in the summer. Ayesteran made it clear that he wanted to leave and refused to appear with Benitez and other members of the backroom staff in the squad photograph for the season. Talks between the pair failed to bring about a reconciliation and Ayesteran is awaiting a decision from the club on the terms and a date for his departure. He was previously linked with Athletic Bilbao and there is concern at Anfield that he could be tempted to join either Manchester United or Chelsea. Benitez hopes that the move to send him on a so-far undetermined spell of gardening leave will put paid to their reported interest." Christ I hope that last bit's wrong.... |

Hang em first. Question em later.

Just have to give him an agreement saying he can leave the club for anyone but United or Chelsea then. Think I heard of it being used elsewhere before. :chin:  |
