Always business,never personal.
..to our self discipline?

I'm not talking about JP's red-card t'other night (face it,after his first yellow it was just a matter of time) but I'm talking about the fact we've given away 4 penalties in 8 competitive games this season which is double the amount of the past 2 years

Alright we all know that the Chelsea one had nothing to do with actual fair-play and was more to do with Styles being on their pay-roll but that still leaves 3 penalties that we're our fault.

So what's gone wrong?

nothing, really, apart from the one last night, the other 3 were pretty harsh, Carra's against villa was more ball to hand, chelsea's let's not go there and the one against portsmouth Agger's shirt-pulling, yes i know it's an ofence but the player never went down and also agger never gained an advantage over the attacking player

and there's nowt wrong with my red-tinted glasses

I think mainly it's the result of refs once again being under pressure due to new directives etc. Out of all the penalties we've conceded only the Porto game was truly deserved and the Chelsea one was ridiculous.

Of course Rafa could be right and we could be a victim of a Europe-wide "I don't care how you do it but stop Liverpool winning any trophies" campaign. :wink2:

2 of the 3 legitimate pens had the same precursor - defenders getting beaten for speed. The Porto one was stonewall and so was the one against Portsmouth - Arbeloa clearly held him back and prevented him geting proper contact on the ball. The only thing you can say about that one is that they rarely get given.

Maybe we do need another younger CB with some pace?

Carra's one was equally stonewall imo - both hands on the ball - just an uncharacteristic error.
