We looked as bad against Porto for significant periods of the games as we were against Portsmouth. On the Porto performance Quersema looked a far better buy than the under achieving Babel. He contributes very little in wide wing play, actualy passing fullbacks and crossing, and constantly comes inside. What Rafa has brought is a winger who wants to play up front. We need to get back to a commmanding display against Brum ,Torres with Voronin is the best partership. The injuries will no doubt affect our defense for the up coming games although Arbo, who continues to progress, can play as a central defender.Thankfully Faboi is back and needs to capture the form towards the end of last season. |

Thing is for all Quersmas tricks and skills he come across as the local ball hog who can't pass to save his life. If the boy could cross or pass we'd have been beaten by 3 or 4 but he can't. I'm happy with Babel and I think he showed some some neat touchs and he can play but I'm sure we can let him off this one time considering even the likes of Gerrard didn't have a game. It could be argued that Quersma is the pretty player but I thought Lucho Gonzalez was the more effective one. I'm glad to see Fabio back as he was beginning to get into form at the end of last season with some real solid games against Chelsea and Arsenal. Hopefully he can recapture that. Arbeloa has been good but I thought his best position was right back and I'm keen for him to provide the competition that might push Finnan up another level. |

Well critical as they are, I'd rather face the next few games missing Alonso and Agger than missing Gerrard and Carra. |
