Petr Cech has issued a statement in response to media reports concerning the player.

The statement reads:

'There are a few stories that have appeared today in the press quoting me that I was interested in a move to Barcelona. These were taken from an interview I gave back in 2003 when I was at Rennes.

'I am very happy at Chelsea and this is where I see my future.' :yay:

Chelsea could be without goalkeeper Petr Cech for the holiday period after they learned that he suffered bruising in Sunday's win at Blackburn.

A Chelsea statement said: "Scans have shown bruising around Petr's hip and side. We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days.

"We hope to have him back playing as soon as possible."

With Carlo Cudicini also out injured, Hilario could play against Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham.

Well Cech's injury didn't turn out to be too serious, but i doubt he was 100% for the Villa game, i think Carlo should be given a few games while Cech regains his fitness and gets his head on straight after a few quite horrendus errors in recent weeks...that is if Carlo is fit!

Keepers make mistakes, its a sign of a great keeper (Reina, Cech) that they pick themselves up and play great next game rather than dig themselves into a rut and are shit for ages (Robinson)

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is on his way back to fitness and is due to resume full training.

The Czech stop-stopper has been sidelined for the last four games following hip damage, suffering the initial injury against Blackburn on 23rd December, and then aggravating it against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

But he believes he is now on the way back and hopes to stay fit in the New Year.

Cech told Chelsea TV: "Recently I have been training hard, returning to fitness and the injury has reacted very well so hopefully I am on the way back.

"If nothing changes, I should join the team and I hope I will stay there on the pitch as long as I can.

"It was quite a long time I was injured with first my calf and then I played only a few games and I was injured again - so I hope I stay fit in the New Year."

Cech admitted that it had been a risk to take part in the Villa game so soon after suffering the initial knock.

"We took a little bit of a risk and I tried to play this game," he said.

. His team have won 21 and lost two of his 28 games in all competitions.they have conceded only five goals in their 14 away matches and are in the final of the Carling Cup, still alive in the Champions League and FA Cup, and back in business in the Premier League, four points off the leaders, Manchester United.

"Chelsea are the team to fear now," said Cech, the goalkeeper. "With everything that has happened this season, we have got through with great character. Winning all four competitions is possible.

A top European club is ready to launch a €40 million bid (approximately £30 million) to try and sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech according to his agent Pavel Zika.

The representative also said that 10 other clubs have approached him in order to know if The Blues shot-stopper is available.

Cech is happy at Stamford Bridge according to Zika, who wants to meet with sporting director Franck Arnesen when the season is over to discuss a pay rise.

“I know that a big European club are ready to pay €40 million for Petr Cech,” Zika told Czech newspaper Pravo.

“A director in charge of that kind of issues told it to me a few weeks ago.

“That is a big sum for a keeper.

“We will take a close look at Petr’s current contract at the end of the season to see if we can improve it.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has pledged his future to the club after his agent said an unnamed club was lining up a £32m bid for him.

"Contrary to numerous press stories over the last couple of days, I would like to make it very clear I have no plans to leave the club," Cech said.

"I am very happy at Chelsea. I still have two years left on my contract.

"I believe the club will sit down with my representatives at the right time to discuss an extension of my contract."

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed his superb late season form was down to discovering he needed contact lenses!

The 26-year-old stopper even believes the first time he wore them in a match last month was the biggest victory of the entire season for him.

He recalled: "I had been complaining about not seeing well since October. It came to a head against Arsenal.

"I thought I had the ball in my hands and then suddenly it flew past me. That had never happened to me before. I couldn't explain it.

"It seemed I was getting in position a bit later than I normally would or that I was reacting a little bit more slowly."

An ankle injury ruled Cech out of action for six weeks back in March and he used the time to get his eyes checked.

He was on the brink of a return in early April only to suffer a training-ground injury when he needed 50 stitches in a facial wound following a collision with Tal Ben Haim.

He added: "Together with the goalkeeping coach I studied footage from last season and this season in terms of how I dealt with crosses and situations.

"You could see a huge difference in the way I moved. After I got injured, I had enough time to go for various check-ups.

"In the end I got contact lenses and now I can see 100 per cent better. So it's possible to find positives out of the injuries.
