i'm actually one of the few that rates him, he's works hard, creates chances and is a team player, all that's missing is the goals, and trust me, they will come, every striker gos through a barren spell, it was the same with Crouch, but look at him now, he scores nearly every time he plays, so just lay off Kuyt and give him some confidence and the goals will come

Not a fan. Works hard for the team, but always seems to be helping out in midfield/defence so that when the ball arrives in the box no one is there to put it in the net.

I give him respect at the game - he comes onto the pitch and claps the fans and seems like a nice guy. But I just don't think he is Liverpool standard!

I don't rate him either but my brother does. We argue about the guy a lot. He's convinced Kuyt drops deep on Rafa's orders but I remind him Torres was bought to allow Kuyt to get back into the box like he played in Holland. Saw it in the Villa game but he's fallen back into the habit.

I don't deny he works hard but he's never come across to me as anything more than competent. Certainly I couldn't see him coming on as a sub and changing a game. He didn't even score against Derby.

Does a job, just not a great one.

We look half as likely to score with him on the pitch.

I'm a fan. He works very hard, his movement can be very good too and basically he does a job for the team. The goals will come although I agree he plays too deep to score as many as he could if he got him self in the box more often rather than trying to help the midfield and defence out as much as he does.

I wouldn't want to see him leave but I agree he needs more goals by the end of the season or he may well be on his way.

I'm not convinced.

I like his workrate and application. He has a first class attitude and comes across a genuinely nice guy.

But strikers are there to score and create goals. I've seen enough to convince me he's not a natural goalscorer. 3 goals in the prem this season - 2 of them penalties and one that just hit him on the knee and went in.

Happy enough to keep him for the rest of the season and see if he improves, but if not I reckon it has to be time up and wish him all the best for the future.

Despite an excellent workrate he comes to deep and cannot get into the box quick enough and at times his passing is poor. His future at the club is linked with that of Crouch. One will need to go for the other to stay.
The more the goals are spread throughout the side the better it is. Anelka's price will be over the top.
As for other options up front the available quality in Jan will be far less than in the close season.I have feeling both Kuyt and Crouch will still be with us until the end of the season.

I personally think Kuyt's problem is how Rafa's used him this season. Kuyt is best off in a two man strikeforce with either Torres or Crouch. But this season he's played with Voronin or against Blackburn on his own. I think him and Vorinin play too deep for them to ever click as a strike pairing and that if he plays on his own it relys on players from midfield coming forward and at times we lack midfielders who really drive into the box with the hope of scoring.

But in his defence many seem to have missed the fact he was excellent against the barcodes and was a key reason why Torres was allowed to miss chance after chance. He works hard every game no matter what and most importantly does what the manager tells him. I'm not sure the goals will ever flow freely but I don't think thats everything. Compare him to Tevez for example, the "experts" will probably happily pay 20 million to have him in whatever side, yet he joined English football at about the same time as Kuyt and has scored less goals. Yet in some minds Tevez is twice the player!!!

People have forgotten that it wasn't so long ago Kuyt battered Chelsea's defence on two seperate occassions. It wasn't so long ago people felt Kuyt would grow into a legend at this football club and for me he still can. I agree with the other comment that you just have to look at Crouch to see that when a set of fans really gets behind such a player the goals will come.

Also I don't think you can ever expect the hard work and total committment from Anelka who always seems to be lining up his next big move rather then concentrating on his performances for the club and as good as Anelka is we have now have Torres.

well hopefully kuyt showed last night how he is a major player for us . Great team play . Linked well with both gerrard and torres all night and had a hand in first goal and played thru many dangerous balls as well as getting on score sheet himself.

We've all seen what he can and can't do. Mostly we agree on his strengths and limitations.

Some of us just differ on whether that's good enough for our team.

I think Crouch and Torres look more potent, personally.

I think we have looked at our most dangerous with Kuyt and Torres up fron together. And Pennant/Babel and Kewell on the wings.

totally agree , think crouch is our third striker along with voronin , the team looks so much better with torres/kuyt up top , gerrard and mascher/xabi in the middle and kewell left with anyone from yossi/babel or pennant out right .
