Chelsea were dealt an early blow during their high-voltage Premiership clash at Arsenal as skipper John Terry suffered a foot injury on Sunday. In a tense opening period where tackles flew in and tempers were always on the rise, centre-back Terry, who was booked in the 30th minute, picked up quite a painful knock from Gunners winger Emmanuel Eboue in the 35th minute. The England skipper received some treatment and continued for a few minutes later but had to be taken off and Avram Grant sent on Israel international Tal Ben Haim on in the 38th minute. |

John Terry did not suffer a broken foot against Arsenal, but Chelsea boss Avram Grant revealed a definitive diagnosis will have to wait until Monday. Terry limped out of Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat at Emirates Stadium in the 38th minute following a challenge from Emmanuel Eboue which left the visitors incensed. Grant revealed that preliminary tests revealed no break but there are fears that the England international has suffered ligament damage. "He is not feeling well but he didn't break anything,” Grant confirmed. “We will wait for Monday to see how it is." |

Club doctor Bryan English said: "We will assess John over the next couple of days but I would imagine he would be out for a minimum of six weeks." Terry will miss at least eight games and is doubtful for key fixtures against Portsmouth and Liverpool in February after suffering three broken bones in his right foot in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Arsenal. The injury means he is also likely to be ruled out of Fabio Capello's first game in charge of England, the friendly against Switzerland at Wembley in February. His absence has brought renewed speculation about his future as the country's captain but he is hopeful of retaining the position and confident of the job he has done. |

Terry injury fears mount for Blues Chelsea fear skipper John Terry could be ruled out for the rest of the season with his broken foot injury, according to reports. The England captain fractured three bones in his right foot in a challenge with Emmanuel Eboue during the 1-0 defeat by Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on December 16. The club initially announced that the inspirational centre-back would need at least six weeks to recover from the setback, with the player setting his sights on a return to action in the middle of February. But reports in the national press indicate that the Stamford Bridge club are concerned that Terry's recovery could take longer than anticipated. The Blues skipper, who has been given a protective boot to wear to aid the healing process, is due to have his foot re-examined when he returns from holiday in Dubai. Blues boss Avram Grant is already looking to bolster his defensive ranks during the January transfer window, with a move for Lokomotiv Moscow's Serbian international centre-half Branislav Ivanovic on the cards. |

That would be a big blow for Chelsea. We've had our captain out for the season so far but at least it looks like he'll return for the run-in. |

John Terry insists he would be happy to hand over the England captaincy if asked to by new manager Fabio Capello. Terry, who is currently out with a foot injury, believes he will be fit for the Switzerland friendly on 6 February. But the Wembley international could also mark Beckham's 100th England cap and he could be handed the armband. "It would be great for his family for him to have the armband. But it doesn't matter who is captain. It's a decision I will fully respect," said Terry. "The most important thing is making England great again; if we can get England back to winning ways it will make everyone happy," added the Chelsea captain. |

Chelsea boss Avram Grant has not ruled John Terry out of a return in time for the Carling Cup final on 24 February. Terry, who has not played since 16 December because of a foot injury, had said he had a chance of playing against Huddersfield in the FA Cup on Saturday. However, Grant was less optimistic and doubted whether his captain would even be fit for the Carling Cup final. "We think he'll be back in three weeks - I think the cup final will be too soon but we will see," said Grant. "He wants to do everything he can to be fit as soon as possible." Grant admits Terry's imminent return is a major boost for the Blues, as they prepare for the run-in to the end of the season. |

Chelsea captain John Terry has reiterated his commitment to the club in the wake of the Carling Cup final defeat by Tottenham last Sunday. Terry, who was involved in a training-ground row with first-team coach Henk ten Cate the day before the Wembley showdown with Spurs, was unsure of his place in the starting line-up after he was omitted from the Champions League side that drew with Olympiacos the previous Tuesday. But he has been quick to make it clear that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge for life and is looking forward to the rest of the season after two months spent on the sidelines with a fractured foot. "I really can't see myself leaving and I signed a new contract earlier in the season. I love the club, and I'm so passionate about Chelsea," Terry said. "I just want Chelsea to succeed. I like to think I know what the fans go through on a weekly basis. I don't just come in, train and go home and forget about things, I take it home with me. "I am fortunate to be in the position I am at an amazing club like Chelsea, and to enjoy the things that come with being a professional footballer. "I have been here on £45 per week and worked my way through to being where I am today. I appreciate everything and work hard every day." Terry also admitted that Avram Grant's squad must use the defeat at Wembley to spur them on to glory in the remainder of the season. "It's hard to take any defeat, let alone a final," he said. "The boys worked their socks off to get to the final, and it's the worst time to lose, but we have to pick ourselves up, and we're still fortunate enough to be in all three competitions, and we're still very much in contention. "The Premier League is still close, and we have a great chance in the Champions League and FA Cup, which is our trophy so we need to stay positive. |

John Terry is happy with Arsenal and Manchester United being in the limelight at this stage of the season and feels Chelsea can take advantage of their new underdog status. United have been in hot pursuit of Arsenal in the Premier League, while Arsene Wenger's men have taken the plaudits in the UEFA Champions League this week following their epic win against AC Milan. Chelsea are only seven points off the pace and have to play their title rivals at Stamford Bridge, where they have not lost for two years in league action. They also eased into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with victory over Olympiacos this week and they face Barnsley on Saturday in the FA Cup. However, there has been little talk of a treble since the Carling Cup final defeat to Tottenham at Wembley. "We like it that way," said skipper Terry. "A few people are slowly mentioning us but we are out of the way at the minute and hopefully we can stay that way as long as possible until the end and then can put some pressure on. |

John Terry will be fit for the Champions League final against Manchester United despite dislocating his left elbow during yesterday's 1-1 draw with Bolton. Chelsea initially feared that their captain had broken his collarbone when he was stretchered off following a collision with Petr Cech after just 11 minutes. Terry was sent for an x-ray at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, but returned to Stamford Bridge after his arm was popped back into the socket |

John Terry eased the pain of Chelsea's Champions League defeat with the opening goal of England's 2-0 win over the U.S.A. at Wembley. The defender's heroic performance forced Fabio Capello to admit the appointment of a permanent England captain will be the toughest decision he makes as head coach. |

Chelsea captain John Terry is convinced they'll meet Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in this season's Champions League. Terry said: "All the lads are already saying we'll get Inter in the Champions League and you just know we probably will meet them. "Jose was a top manager and someone I loved working with. But it was a change the club made so we've moved on and moved forward." Terry says all the players have already noticed the changes brought in by new manager Phil Scolari during their punishing pre-season preparations in China, Malaysia and Russia. Speaking on Chelsea TV, he said: "Pre- season has been very different this year. "Under Jose we never did any running but with Scolari we've had our trainers on and done 1,000 metres, which is similar to the Vialli and Ranieri style of thinking. "Now we all feel really good and well prepared for our opener against Portsmouth. "Scolari understands football and the lads. I was really pleased when Peter Kenyon phoned to tell me they were going to announce his appointment. |
