At least we're the most arrogant fans in the league. A label I'm actually quite proud of. What's it like knowing that your club will always be in our shadow? |

Not arsed. Hard to believe that before 1992, you'd won the league a modest eight times. Every club has a moment when it's fortunes change. Yours was the invention of football in 1992 by Rupert Murdoch, ours is Abramovich. We can't pretend to have a fan base as wide as yours or indeed a history. But I have a feeling we're carving one out for ourselves - as any club tries to do. Be it floating it on the stock market and exceptionally shrewd business or having a wealthy Russian, every club has its turning point. But you enjoy your soulless ground. You enjoy your funereal atmosphere. You enjoy your fans not being from Manchester. You enjoy being raped in the wallet by the Glazers. You enjoy it. I enjoy being a Chelsea fan - from not being able to compete with you (in spite of enjoying the best record against you at Old Trafford, even before Roman) in any way shape or form, to starving you of the league and utterly utterly dismantling you at Stamford Bridge to win the league a second time. In your shadow? Maybe. Do I care? Not at all. |

:bait:  Don't be too sore Mow. I believe that Chelsea are indeed writing another chapter in their history but you'll have to go a long way to emulate Manchester United (even before '92) |

Nice use of smilies. I give you an articulate and entirely justifiable response, and that's the reply. At least I know the level at which you operate. :ale: :chin: :hide:  :joker: :lmao: Oh look I used smilies - how very clever! |

The words of your manager not me - funereal I believed he described it. Hardly slander is it? I know a few Man United fans, and guess what, not one of them comes from Manchester. Going on my own personal experience - and the experience of many many people around the country, the majority of your fans are from elsewhere. If you're going to respond to a perfectly reasonable argument by telling me not to be so sore and say that I'm throwing my dummy out, that's hardly intellectual is it? It's hardly an accurate response to my argument - well you did manage to crank out "we were well successful before 1992" in response I suppose and for that you are to be heartily congratulated. Hardly threw my dummy out anyway - "In your shadow, maybe. Do I care, not at all". You asked what is was like to be in your shadow, and I answered in a way that you did not like. Oh and Stam, nice boast. I can't wait for the Stretford End to arise in unison singing about how their tickets prices are low and they make loads of profit. Nice. |

I was replying to Blinkered Red not your point "thumb" But your statement about the majority of Utd fans coming from outside Manchester is true as we have a massive fan base a lot more then the population of Manchester |

...and where do you live? 60% of United's season ticket holders live in Manchester. I think we've got crossed wires here so I apologise if I came across as obtuse. |

i thought lpool were now the biggest club in terms of support, yeh a shitty accolade i know, how they measure this sort of thing is beyond me, but nevertheless i remember reading it in the summer, and now we are the club with the most searches on the internet :yay: :lmao:
 ps chelsea shirts sell well here, but a few years back it was arsenal. if drogba leaves he will take away a large part of the overseas support. it was interesting to note a while back everyone had utd barthez, then arsenal thierry henry shirts, now its drogba chelsea. french footy fans are proud of their players as opposed to thier teams................drogba is an adopted son. |

Better dead than smeg

I read an article today that said a market research survey had estimated United's fan base to be around 333million, so yeah I guess most do come from outside Manchester! I know we have a lot of fans in Ireland that come over for games and a United forum I'm a member of has posters from across Europe, the United States, Australia, Asia and 1 kid in Jamaica. The ground was dead on New Year's Day but most of the big clubs have experienced games like that. Liverpool fans have admitted it on a couple of occasions this season and the Emirates had been nicknamed 'the Library' by opposition fans. On the big occasions Old Trafford still has an amazing atmosphere. The noise inside the ground during the Champions League semi-final last season was incredible. Before 1992 we'd actually 'only' won 7 league title (not 8 as you mentioned), 7 FA Cups, 1 European Cup and 1 European Cup Winners Cup so we do have a proud history. In fact, I get pretty annoyed when United fans talk in terms of since 1992 (i.e. no Prem titles for Liverpool) because they seem to be forgetting about our successful history before then. |

Not here to wind anyone up actually crazy punctuation man. Don't see anything that's wrong with a good argument, without resorting to personal insults, which is exactly what that was. No need for apology either, denisirwinsbarmywotsit, but if that's the way you feel, then I reciprocate. |
