Nicolas Anelka has admitted refusing to take one of the first five penalties in Chelsea's Champions League final defeat. The Frenchman also slammed boss Avram Grant’s decision to use him primarily as a wide player since he joined the club from Bolton in January. Anelka’s shoot-out snub of manager Grant left John Terry to take The Blues’ fifth spot-kick, which he skewed wide after slipping on the rain-soaked pitch. United went on to claim the trophy while Terry was inconsolable after seeing the trophy slide out of his grasp. Anelka, who eventually took and failed to convert the seventh spot-kick, said: "I was asked to take one of the first five kicks. "But I said: 'That is out of the question, I have come on basically as a right-back and you want me to take a penalty.' "So I had to go in seventh but (Edwin) Van der Sar pushed away my shot. All the better for him, that is the game." |

If you're not up for a CL final then you shouldn't be in football. Yes he has been played out of possition by a Manager he obviously doesnt think a lot of, but as a striker I would have thought he'd want to take a Pen in a final. |

Have said elsewhere that i think hes a douche, always stood up for the guy and liked him when he played for us, was disappointed he didnt sign, but he proved he has NO bottle whatsoever and he should be the one on all the vodka bottles instead of Terry |

I think for a striker to refuse to take a pen and say that hes not ready as he is not playing much or in right position is a slap in the face to his team mates and the fans. We have Essien always playing out of position and he does not have a hissy over it. |
