this may help Jose Mourinho is prepared to return as Chelsea manager to succeed Avram Grant but only if he has complete control over football matters. (The Sun) Mourinho also wants Chelsea's academy director Frank Arnesen to be sacked and wants to bring his old backroom staff back with him. (The Sun) Mourinho has ruled himself out of a return to Chelsea because he wants the Inter Milan job, leaving Russia coach Guus Hiddink as the favourite. (The Guardian) Hiddink's agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen says the Dutchman will remain as Russia coach until the 2010 World Cup. (The Times) Chelsea want a tough disciplinarian manager to replace Grant. (Various) The Blues also want a boss who will discuss team tactics and player selection with club owner Roman Abramovich. (The Independent) Chelsea have already spoken to former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard about becoming their new boss. (Daily Star) :lmao: |

Didier Deschamps believes he is on Chelsea's short-list regarding the coaching role at Stamford Bridge, and the charismatic figure is ready for the big move to his old club. Just two days after sacking Avram Grant, The Blues are working hard to name a new manager and France legend Deschamps is part of the short-list. The tactician is a free agent since he parted company with Juventus in the summer of 2007, after having helped The Old Lady to gain promotion to the top flight. Deschamps reckons he is one of the three or four managers that are in the frame to replace Grant, and the tactician dreams of taking over the reins. |

Jose Mourinho says he will not be returning to Chelsea as manager. Chelsea are on the lookout for a new manager after the club decided to axe Mourinho's successor at Stamford Bridge Avram Grant on Saturday. A host of top names have been linked with the vacant manager's post including Frank Rijkaard, Guus Hiddink, Mark Hughes and Sven Goran Eriksson. A sensational return to West London for Mourinho, who left Chelsea last September in shock circumstances, has also been mooted. |

Roberto Mancini, who is believed to be high on Chelsea's shortlist, has left Inter Milan after a meeting with club president Massimo Moratti, according to his agent. (Press Association) Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is confident that manager Roy Keane will not leave the club to take over at Stamford Bridge after the former Manchester United captain was linked with the vacant manager's job. (Press Association) Jurgen Klinsmann was the first name on Chelsea's wish-list but he told the club he could not break the contract he has signed with Bayern Munich. (Various) Sven-Goran Eriksson will meet with Chelsea officials next week after getting the boot from Manchester City and he could team up with Roberto Mancini, who has been sacked by Inter Milan. (Daily Express) Roman Abramovich met with AC Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti to get his opinion on who should be the next Chelsea manager. Michael Laudrup, Frank Rijkaard, Roberto Mancini and Mark Hughes are the four managers in the frame. |

Chelsea Inquire After Klinsmann Chelsea have made an unofficial inquiry regarding the availability of incoming Bayern Munich boss Jurgen Klinsmann… The Blues, trophyless this season for the first time since 2004, are in need of a new manager after sacking Avram Grant last week. Klinsmann was a candidate to succeed Jose Mourinho after the Special One left Stamford Bridge back in September, having been interviewed by club owner Roman Abramovich and his cohorts. The former Tottenham striker eventually turned down Chelsea’s approaches, however, as he refused to work under Grant, who then the club’s director of football. The man who took Germany to the semi-finals in the 2006 World Cup has since been targeted by Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett as a possible replacement for Reds boss Rafa Benitez – a fact that, when leaked by Hicks, caused uproar at Anfield. But the west Londoners have rekindled their interest in Klinsmann, even going so far as to inspect the terms of his contract with Bayern to determine if there are any clauses or loopholes that can be exploited. The deal seems watertight, however, and Klinsmann’s representatives have announced that the former Internazionale hitman will definitely start work at the Allianz Arena on July 1. Inter’s sacking of Roberto Mancini has added another name to the fray, although Dutch duo Frank Rijkaard and Guud Hiddink remain the favourites to take the reins at Stamford Bridge, despite the latter’s commitments to the Russian national team. |

Chelsea may have to be patient if they want Luiz Felipe Scolari as their next manager. As the FA discovered two years ago, the Brazilian's loyalty remains with his employers and he could make Chelsea wait until after Portugal's European Championship campaign is over before discussing the vacancy at Stamford Bridge. Scolari is thought to be on a shortlist alongside Blackburn's Mark Hughes, with Roberto Mancini among a number of other contenders now that he has been sacked by Inter Milan. |

The Portuguese Football Federation has confirmed Chelsea's interest in manager Luis Felipe Scolari. Chelsea are in the hunt for a new boss after parting company with Avram Grant last Saturday and a host of bosses from across Europe are believed to be contenders for the Stamford Bridge hot-seat. The likes of unsettled Inter chief Roberto Mancini, ex-Barca boss Frank Rijkaard, Blackburn manager Mark Hughes and Russia coach Guus Hiddink are all understood to be targets. And, according to the Portuguese Football Federation's vice-president Amandio De Carvalho, Portugal manager Scolari - who is out of contract after Euro 2008 - is also on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's short-list. "I already know that Chelsea are interested in Scolari," Carvalho said in The Independent . Lippi no-go Meanwhile, former Juventus and Italy boss Marcello Lippi has ruled himself out of the running as Grant's successor. "No, no, no," Lippi said in The Sun when asked if he would be interested in taking over at Chelsea. "Sharing the language of the players is very important. I don't speak English. "I must transmit my ideas and philosophy to the team and could not do that." Drogba deal Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti is also rumoured to be in line for a move to the Premier League following reports that the Italian met with Abramovich on Monday. And Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has jokingly suggested a swap deal for Chelsea striker Didier Drogba could be an option. "They can have him (Ancelotti) for 50million euros (£45m) or else I'll exchange him for Didier Drogba," Galliani concluded in The Sun. |

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a top target for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. The Daily Express says Ancelotti has been propelled to favourite to land the £6million-a-year manager's job at Chelsea. Sources in Italy claimed last night that the AC Milan boss has been offered the job and owner Abramovich has made Ancelotti his personal No1 choice. Abramovich would also like Gianfranco Zola to return to the Bridge as Ancelotti's No2 after the sacking of Grant's assistant, Henk ten Cate, yesterday. |

Ricardo Carvalho believes his Portugal national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari would be the right man to manage Chelsea. The Blues defender, speaking at a press conference ahead of his team’s European Championship warm-up against Georgia on Saturday, revealed his backing for Scolari, claiming it would be ‘a real plus’ for Chelsea were they able to convince the Brazilian to move to West London. "At the moment we don't have a coach and it's normal that Chelsea are interested in Scolari, especially after the good work he's done with Portugal," Carvalho told Portuguese newspaper Record. "I'd be happy because I've worked with him for a long time and I think it would be a real plus for Chelsea." |
