Sky Sports News understands Chelsea have agreed a deal with Carlo Ancelotti following talks with the Milan coach's representatives. Chelsea are homing in on their new manager after sacking Avram Grant less than two weeks ago after just eight months in charge. The Premier League runners-up are understood to have narrowed down their short list for the job to two names. Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes, who is also interesting Manchester City, is one of the Blues' targets to replace Grant. The other contender is an overseas coach and Chelsea have made a renewed attempt to prise Ancelotti away from the San Siro. Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed at the weekend that the club had turned down Chelsea's request to hold talks with Ancelotti. However, Sky Sports News understands that the Blues have met with the Italian's representatives and agreed terms over taking charge at Stamford Bridge. A deal with Milan is still to be reached and the concerted push to appoint Ancelotti looks likely to lead to Hughes joining City. Sven Goran Eriksson, Frank Rijkaard, Guus Hiddink, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Roberto Mancini are among the names to have been linked with the Chelsea position, but it now appears owner Roman Abramovich has settled on Ancelotti. :chin: |

Blues legend Gianfranco Zola could even be afforded a coaching role as part of the new set-up which would send shockwaves through European football. Milan have insisted that Ancelotti is staying at the club and denied Chelsea permission to speak with the experienced coach. Nevertheless, Abramovich reportedly met his target at a hotel in Paris this week to discuss the vacant managerial position in West London. |

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is a new target for Chelsea. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is turning to Spalletti after being rejected by AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, says The Times. Spalletti's Roma is regarded as Italy's most entertaining team and he certainly would deliver the style of football Abramovich is desperate to see Chelsea playing with next season. |

Chelsea are planning a raid on Roma with coach Luciano Spalletti headlining a triple swoop. The Daily Star says Chelsea are closing in on 49-year-old Roma coach Spalletti - the 2006 Serie A Coach of the Year. And if Spalletti does turn out to be the man in an amazing managerial merry-go-round it could be the Blues will also try to sign midfielder Daniele De Rossi or Alberto Aquilani - or maybe even both if Frank Lampard leaves to join Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan. |

Paulo Ferreira has backed his international manager Luiz Felipe Scolari as a potential replacement for Avram Grant at Chelsea. Portugal manager Scolari is on a long list of Europe’s top bosses that have been linked with the vacant position at Stamford Bridge. And Ferreira believes the World Cup winning coach would be a good candidate to take the reins at the West London club. |
