Jose Bosingwa will undergo a scan today after being substituted during the first half of his Chelsea debut.

The 25-year-old right-back, who signed from Porto over the summer, managed only 20 minutes of yesterday's match with Guangzhou Pharmaceutical as Luiz Felipe Scolari's side began their pre-season tour with a comfortable 4-0 win.

Chelsea initially said the Portugal international was withdrawn as a precautionary measure after complaining of a minor thigh problem, but it was later revealed he would undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

Bosingwa pushed forward from his right-back role on regular occasions during his brief but encouraging debut.

Jose Bosingwa, Chelsea's new right-back, has been ruled out for at least three weeks after tearing a thigh muscle 20 minutes into his debut in last week's friendly against Guangzhou Pharmaceutical.
