Manchester City have completed the signing of Tel Ben Haim from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. The Israel international has agreed terms on a four-year contract after productive talks with City boss Mark Hughes. Ben Haim only joined Chelsea last summer from Bolton but struggled for playing time under first Jose Mourinho and then Avram Grant, with latest incumbent Luiz Felipe Scolari having now sanctioned his departure. The 26-year-old becomes the second Israeli player to join City, following in the footsteps of former favourite Eyal Berkovic. Last season captain Richard Dunne and Micah Richards formed an oft-praised central defensive partnership but it seems likely the latter will move to right-back to accommodate Ben Haim this coming campaign. Although Hughes was in charge at Eastlands when City completed the signing of Jo, negotiations had already started for the Brazilian under the regime of former boss Sven Goran Eriksson. Hughes has been a long-term admirer of Ben Haim and has moved quickly to make the defender his first signing in Manchester. One more to go :yay: |
