hmm... i'm not overly excited but i admit i am a little intrigued.

especially considering these quotes from today concerning robinho :

Quote:

Schuster is adamant Robinho, who scored in Tuesday's pre-season draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, is going nowhere and is happy at the club.

"We are not contemplating his departure - Robi will continue with us," Schuster told Marca.

"Robinho is happy as always."

i'll probably be on my way home at 17.00 but first thing when i get there will be check out this supposed "world exclusive"

Chelsea have announced midfielder Frank Lampard has signed a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard, 30, had been the subject of summer-long speculation as former boss Jose Mourinho attempted to lure the England international to Inter Milan.

The Serie A outfit bid for Lampard in July, but Chelsea swiftly rejected the approach, reported to be in the region of £9.75million.

And Lampard has now ended further conjecture regarding his future by penning a deal which ties him to Chelsea and is likely to see him end his playing career in West London.

"We've signed my new contract today," Lampard - whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the 2008/09 season

i gotta say, this whole thing made the club look totally ridiculous, in my opinion.

the headline was "worldwide exclusive" and all it was was a player signing a contract which has been in process for over a year!

and of course it was a five year deal underlining that we were held ransom and giving the message that some players are bigger than the club.

cech, bridge, essien and ferreira (i think) have all signed long term contracts but they didn't get a special press conferance and a "worldwide exclusive" headline.

perhaps its only fitting for the whole lampard's contract saga to end in a shambolic manner with it having been a circus from day one.

what i will say is that lampard better fucking perform now!!
