the problem i have with the HKS kit (only cause im in the middle of no where) is that the FCON needs an HKS trained person (or so ive ben lead to beleive by HKSUSA) with the software to program it. My dream turbo setup (for response not worried about making gobs of power because i will be keeping the stock compression) equal length manifold (3mm thick mild carbon steel for the runners) Garrett GT2871R (400bhp capability) Apexi power fc 550cc injectors Walbro 255lph fuel pump modified Greddy intercooler kit Custom 3" exhaust from the turbo back with apexi n1 or hks hiper rear muffler All relativley easy to obtain (i can get the manifold made locally). Its just the details. I have bypassed the coolant from the throttle body so i know i cna get coolant from there for the turbo. But my woes are the oil. Where can i get an oil supply from? I see quite a few allen key plugs near the oil filter. If i can get oil from there that would be great. The oil drain would be relativley easy, but im interested to know how the greddy kit dealt with it. Did you have to drill and weld a bung onto the oil pan? The more i tihnk on it. The more i want to do this. Next year some time i might piece this together. I dont want to open up the motor so i am leaving the compression stock. I figure i can push 8-9psi of intercooled boost into the 11.5:1 motor. My last concern would be fueling. Will the stock intank fuel pressure regulator (the returnless fuel system) be able to keep up with the boost? Converting to a return style fuel system would prevent me from doing this altogether. I'm not willing to go through that much trouble. Im guessing that 9psi on that GT2871 would get me around 250whp and 200lbft of torque. |

Heh heh! You got bit bad! HKS doesn't sell direct. You'll need to go though an agent. You don't have to use the F Con V Pro, some other aftermarket ecu will work just as well. For the least hasles, I think the Apexi Power FC will be the best. It doesn't have the resolution of the V Pro, but it doesn't need proprietary software to tune & as a result you'll be able to find tuners more easily. You should at least go for an injector & fuel pump upgrade to start with. |

Nix, The Greddy kit "T"s the oil supply from the stock oil pressure gauge. However, the "T" joint is made out of brass & is stupidly just screwed into the side of the block. Over time vibration will cause the "T" to develop a stress fracture, eventually snapping off and dumping out all the oil. Mr. Singh, take note too!! If you stand facing the engine and look down at the oil pan, on the right side you'll notice a bump in the casting with a large hex bolt (approx. 15mm) screwed into it. This fitting is pressurised & with the addition of a suitable fitting, it can be used as a oil supply. If I'm not mistaken, you do not have to have to tap the oil pan as there may be a fitting there already. You just have to intercept the hose that is alreay there. I've a friend with the Apexi kit who ran at 1 bar with just the injector & fuel pump upgrade. For utimate ower & ease of tuning, I think the 'return' fuel system is the only way to go. |

rub it in ![]() i dont think that 1bar of boost is possible on the stock compression onless you are using race gas. I know that the return fuel system is the best way to go BUT, this car is my daily driver. I dont want to do to much in the way of mods because it will affect drivability. |

He did have a metal de-comp gasket. The return fuel system shouldn't affect drivability. and neither will a modest turbo. Oh, BTW. The still might be a used Greddy TC kit floating around in Singapore somewhere.

RS200AT.... DAMN YOU! :ph43r: The HKS turbo is £5500 from UK Agent!! So... Forget that! I will either do the greedy turbo... OR have a bespoke system made here. Manifold could be made quite cheap... source the right parts and fabricate.... BTW how much is the Apexi's Turbo kit? |

Strange enough, there might still be a brand new Apexi kit at my tuner's shop. He ordered it by mistake & now it is just sitting. It is the base kt, not intercooler or ecu. I'm going home (I'm now overseas working) in about 2 weeks & can check it out if you want. |

A custom intercooler setup would be too hard to make & will probably be cheaper too. Yes, the Power FC + hand controller. |

ok...got more questions im not the biggest fan of greddy turbos. They are super reliable and make power BUT a garrett turbo will make power sooner and possibly more power @ the same boost. The only mitsu turbo i really respect is the new Evo 8 MR turbo..titanium wheels and what not. Mitsu is actually starting to put more technology into their turbos. The TD04 turbine flange and the T25 turbine flange do look similar but im not convinced till i get something tangible. Whats the lag like? Does it run out of breath at the upper rpms? I'm assuming this was on an engine with the thicker headgasket. Did you run it with the stock mid pipe and an aftermarket rear section? Does the greddy kit come with a down pipe and if so whats the size of the down pipe? last but not least do you have any pictures of the kit? Obviously you have to wait till you get back for the pix but its worth asking now ![]() |
