Hi,
Mine just clocked over 60k and it's a 98 re-con Altezza. Although the manufacturer stated it lasts about 100k but due to the weather in KL and it's already 6 year old i just don't want to take any changes. In fact most of the car owners here replace their timing belt at around 60-80k.

cheers

I have replaced timing belts on other Toyotas.

Remember to mark both the pulley and the old timing belt (with a white marker). Once the old belt is removed, transfer the white marks over to the new belt. When installing the new belt, line up the marks on the new belt to the ones you placed on the pulleys.

This way you are ensured the timing is not messed up.

Also check the tension of the tensioner pulley. Don't over tension the belt.

1999 edition IS200 had "toyota" etched on the windows where are 2000+ IS have "Lexus" etching.
that's another minor thing I noticed.

Nope I was wrong ...
I called Sutherland Lexus and politely requested the full service history on my car and to my surprise .. no timing belt has been done .. this got me thinking cause I thought it was suppose to be done at 80Ks....

called them up and spoke to the technician and apparently on lexus - u dont change them til its clocked in 150Ks...

whoa .. thats some driving to do ... 150,000 ..??!!!

well... there u are ...
