OK guys and gals, TDI in the UK has responded about these TRD suspension bushes and they're willing to drop the price for a group buy. At this time, they estimate for two sets (enough to fit the entire car) at approximately 40 pounds (which works out to approximately $100 AUD), which is inclusive of shipping. This is a very rough estimate by them, and will be substantially cheaper if we can get a quantity going.

Items are:
* TRD Swaybar bushes/mounts
* TRD Suspension bushes (may be separate item + cost, will confirm)

In the meantime, I'm waiting to hear back from Brighton Lexus on whether they can source these parts (which may work out cheaper). I'm hoping that these items will (with some degree of luck):

* Reduce bush squeaking
* Increate bush rigidity

Please state your interest in these items! At this point it may or may not go ahead yet ... But all the same it would be good to know how many people are interested ...

Definitely in on this if we can get the GB going.

Sean, have you gotten a quote on installation? Apparently it is quite a big job, and naturally, a full geometry allignment is required afterwards.

Are you able to identify EXACTLY what bushes are supplied? For that price, is it really every single bush that's replaced?

These are only small, so postage should be negligable.

I'm finding out now about exactly which components are included ... I think the installation 'may' be DYI with a bit of know-how, I'm going to have a look at the bushes this weekend

I'm going to be chatting to a mate who's fairly fluent at these things this weekend, who's going to have a look at my suspension this weekend so that we can verify the procedure to remove/install the bushes. I'm hoping that this will cut down the overall cost dramatically, with the right tools and a bit of knowledge.

If it doesn't work, then, nothing to lose I suppose haha

Response from Brighton Lexus, who apparently forwarded the inquiry onto somebody else :

"TRD REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY READILY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA. TOYOTA IS LAUNCHING THEIR LOCAL ARM OF TRD THIS YEAR AND WE ARE HOPING IT WILL GIVE US ACCESS TO THE ENTIRE RANGE, HOWEVER THERE MAY BE ISSUES WITH AUSTRALIAN DESIGN RULE CERTIFACATION MAKING IT TOO EXPENSIVE FOR TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION AUSTRALIA OFFERING COMPONENTS FOR OLDER VEHICLES, OR IF INDEED THEY DECIDE TO DO COMPONENTS FOR VEHICLES SOLD HERE ONLY AS LEXUS.
THANK YOU."

Er ... what!?

Translation:

TRD will be a brand offered by Toyota in Australia, as was officially announced by them to the press last week. The first TRD version on offer will apparently be a TRD version of the Aurion (the Avalon replacement), which will come with TRD bodykit, supercharged engine etc. Toyota have said that while TRD components will be available to buy/add to existing models, they would like to distinguish these as seperate models, and by the sounds of things, not just cosmetic either.
What Lexus have said above, basically, is that we don't want to mod your car with TRD stuff incase it goes outside of existing ADR's, cause if you get a defect we will get in trouble for installing the stuff in the first place. By 'too expensive' they mean that the cost of getting ADR's changed will be too high.

I highly doubt TRD bushes would be outside of ADR's. It just reinforces the fact that Toyota/Lexus don't like serious modifications!

While on the subject of ADR's - i recently discovered from an engineer via Mos from Toymods that 'old' engines ARE permitted to be installed into newer cars, even in NSW. The rulebook recommends against this due to the possible emissions problems you may have. In other words, yes you can install that 99 or 2000 non-vvti 1UZ or 1J into your IS, providing you get it through emissions.

That's very interesting ... I'm assuming this holds true for VIC as well. If so, that opens a whole new range of options ...

Matt, as you can imagine, there are a whole heap of bushes in our suspensions, the ones I will be going for are just the TRD front swaybar bushes (and rear as well if I get a Cusco rear sway). I checked my other bushes and they appear to be ok.

Full list can be found here:
http://www.tdi-plc.com/is200.html (about 1/3 down the page under the diagram).

Can you please indicate which ones you want?

shaun, TRD sways, front and back including bushes are 900 landed and isstalled through our affiliate workshop, IS Motor Racing. might be a more worthwhile option then sourcing cusco sways AND trd bushes

Yeah that's a bit dear, I'll most likely end up getting the front and rear bushes through TDI and the Cusco rear sway from elsewhere (I believe it's the same diameter as standard rear sway).

Yeah sorry too late. Ended up being no sway bars in the order, just bushes and a seat rail. I'm looking for one as well, but looks like local is the best way to go.
